In this day and age anyone can (and does) have a TV channel. The Mormons did it first and better.

When will they do something with real benefit?

I could care less about the people who cant sleep at night because they are having some orgasmic experience over a man with a pinkie ring on some obscure channel.

Im a lot more worried about the teenagers who cant sleep because they see this is all bogus but they dont know where to turn next and know they better not turn to the elders at any cost!

The blood stand is already changing.

There is a new "policy" now on blood for infants. A form the parents can fill out.

Even in the elders manual, the blood stance has been "softened" but it has gone unnoticed by most.

Big would have been a hard look being taken at the disfellowshipping arrangement.

Or an updated more scripturally accurate stand on blood.

Maybe a better arrangement than the existing elder arrangement?

I have heard the suggestion (from elders) that a good revamp would involve making only a few elders per circuit responsible for hearing judicial cases. This would leave the elders free to be shepherds (what they are supposed to be anyway but arent) and allow for careful training and supervision of the ones deciding the future of our young people who happen to fall in to their hands. This would prevent a measure of the cavalier decision making that goes on since it would be easier to monitor and see who is responsible for what.

Instead of anything which would cause me to take a second look or think they are serious about the Bible, we get a lame TV station and some songs?

Oh! And we get to know who Gog isnt?

I could not be more under whelmed.

So my question is: is this IT?

Was this what all the excitement and hoopla was about or is there more to come?

I hope someone can tell me they are leading with the shallow stuff and bringing out the deep stuff next.

Otherwise this hallmark 100 year date is starting to remind me of a toddlers birth day party.

A few glittery crowns, some cake and they are happy. It takes a little more to impress once they are over the age of 3 or 4.

So is the fake and glitter all of "the big changes" or is there more still to come?

So all the songs that got updated for the last songbook was ok but now songs cant be updated because its TOO extensive?

Something else is going on here.

I didnt believe the stories about porn on the cover of the songbook or brothers going apostate and leaving means songs they wrote will be taken out

but this explanation actually gives that theory credence.

Hi Sam, We have never met before but I wanted to say I admire your stand up pont of view.

It is hard on a website that basically shares a common dislike, to point out the "other side of the story".

So I admire you for that.

My experience with the Witnesses has been very different than yours.

I saw them be all sweetness and light as long as I was giving, giving, giving.

(Pioneering, married to a COBE, daughter of elder, sister of elder, mother of elder - siblings in missionary work etc.)

When I questioned a corrupt act on the part of two elders and a Circuit Overseer was when I was treated to the "other side".

Covering up, lying, stalling - you name it.

Oh! And an indifferent response from the Society when I asked questions.

Basically my conclusion is, everything CAN be fine unless.....

Unless you uncover a wrongdoing on the part of ANY elder or C.O. or any higher up. Then there is no court of appeal, no where to go, no support.

You say you are disfellowshipped. Maybe you feel you deserved it, I have no idea not hearing your side of things.

But what about the people who havent gotten justice and have no recourse?

How would you feel if you were one of them?

You would feel a LOT different, trust me.

Good comparison Magnum!

I know a guy who is a high functioning person with Aspergers.

He has exaggerated facial movements and extremely linear thinking.

He was also raised in a very feminine household.

I am seeing similar behavior in Lett for whatever reason.
