Has this been discussed, the WT Letter about use of K.Halls ?

I believe this letter was posted earlier Phiz but Im glad to see you posted it.

Its always good to make sure newcomers see it and get informed!

So basically this is their way of getting rid of all the older Kingdom Halls built with love in small towns everywhere by local brothers who knew roofing, how to lay block etc.

Gone are the days of the half commercial/half residential looking K.H.s

Now the Halls are going to be located in either commercially zoned areas or areas the growth indicates will be shortly.

Then they can flip their generic new buildings for turn key operations such as Drs offices, coffee shops and so on.

With their free labor, buying power (basically they will function as their own bank) and their new game plan architecturally, they will secure their financial future.

The only drawback - and Im sure they have discussed this is people getting disillusioned by the obvious.

Religion is fading in devekoped countries so they are going to consider this loss a given anyhow and there are always more gullible people wanting to be "part of a movement" that will come along. So it really is a well calculated risk on their part. Very smart.

Totally different subject: Their use in the letter of 2 Kings 10:15 is once again subtly defining the Jehu/Jonadab class they are so entranced with.

Honestly? They wear this scripture out.

Are There Good People Out There?

even though i'm no longer mentally a jw (i still technically am) i do recognize that there are some benefits to being raised one.

for example, the first (and only so far) wordly guy i was involved with had to smoke weed every day and got drunk all the time and that was his idea of fun.

i couldn't help but feel bad for him.

Theres a lot to be said for where you look.

The dating scene for some people is a bar.

For other people its volunteering or work or a sport they like.

A general rule of thumb is you will find people drawn to activities that indicate who they are.

Find something you like to do and see who else shares that interest!

Something that's bugging me. Why didn't the ARC ask Jackson..

also, whether they would consider using 'worldly' expertise when assessing potential risk?.

why was spinks questioned as to whether the organisation should use professionals to assess whether a pedophile is fit to rejoin the jw community (or whether they are still a danger), let alone be reappointed.. and yet jackson, one of the policy makers in the org, was not even spoken to about pedophiles being judged as 'repentant' and even safe to be reappointed, by incompetent elders??.

Here is something I have wondered......

is there a chance that a deal was struck? That Jackson would appear before the RC and in return he would be given a list of the questions to be asked ahead of time?

I know this is a technique used in a lot of interviews.

If it was done this way, the RC might have felt this was still better than not having him appear at all.

I keep reminding myself that their (the RCs) end game is not the same as mine.

I would like to see the GB take a tumble. The RC wants to make the institutions it is looking at take measures to end policies that dont protect children.

Looking at it in that light, maybe it explains why certain questions were asked/not asked?

Angus Stewart could have picked up on Jacksons ruse and challenged him and yet he did not.

Why?

That bothers me...

not that he didnt challenge him but why didnt he?

Is Deborahs true role as judge debatable among scholars?

Would that be why Stewart "let it go"?

If jw's obeyed all of the bible commandments what would they be like?

but then ignore the others.

this is very hippocritical and if they are going to obey one commandment they should be obeying the rest.. just as a bit of fun then... what would jw's be like if they obeyed every rule in the bible?.

Since Jesus said the identifying mark of true Christianity would be love, I think they would have to change from the ground up.

Just the thought of all the changes needed would make the top of the GBs heads explode.

Guardians of Doctrine.

i'm still working my way through the videos..... this has probably been covered before but had anyone else ever heard them use this phrase before?

not me... but it's a clever and as per usual misleading choice of words.. if they are indeed guardians of doctrine, they are very poor ones.

if so jws would believe the same thing now that they did in 1879 and we all know that's not true.

Another little point about saying they are "guardians of the doctrine"...

was that to side step the point Angus Stewart was trying to establish that they are the creators of the doctrine?

The Org. determinedly does NOT consider Deborah a judge, never mind what the Bible says, hang the Bible!

Over and over if you search their literature they allow only for her being a prophetess.

do you expect to see a gb wearing a 17000 us$ iwatch when answering to a court.

Even if the watch isnt real, why is he imitating the world?

Arent we supposed to be "modest in walking with our God"?

So is he "above" as in clergy/laity, something the JWs claim doesnt exist in their ranks or is he just that out of touch with the common man?

So by prominently wearing the iWatch to the RC hearing, the gb are taking the lead in applying jesus' words literally to;
"Keep on the iWATCH!"

It is one thing to receive gifts from people.

But to be so arrogant as to not even dress the part when you are going on camera before the world trying to appear like a humble man of God????
