  How was your day/ week thread?

  this thread is for when you have to say something to get it out of the system, whether it is happy or sad.

  my reason for stating the thread is that on occasion some threads do tend to get a little heated here, and maybe this thread will enable us to reflect on the important fact, we are real people and not just dots on a computer screen.. i would love to start the thread with a bang, but nothing of particular interest has happened, only i do hope the weather improves as the climate i live in has been sadly chilly for the time of year, (if you get the deeper meaning).

  hello everybody,i've been lurking for a while and since i really adore reading the biggest part of the posts, especially this italian ( american) guy about his experiences at bethel in the 70's, i feel a little bit guilty for not participating with my contribute.

  i am really so sorry for the people that are suffering because of the wts.my story is a " happy ending " story, i married a jw almost 30 years ago and i am here to tell that we are still very happy.

  she is very liberal and our 3 kids are " normal ".

  Why all the secrecy in Gods organisation?

  looking back and seeing all the secrecy and cover ups throughout wt history such as the secret elders books, the branch correspondence guidelines, the shameful lying and deceipt exposed during the arc questioning, the in-house way of dealing with things, the lack of openness to the media on issues such as blood or child abuse or anything controversial for that matter.

  could this relate in some way to russell's alleged past as a freemason?

  it seems quite strange that the founder of the bible students quite possibly may have been a freemason, (an organisation well known for its secrecy).

  Its funny how differently it is viewed when you are in - the "secrecy" that is.

  In the beginning, you are applauded for questioning established religions and so on and "coming in to the truth". You are treated as a more enlightened thinker.

  Once you are "in", you quickly pick up on cues to NOT question. It is tied to loyalty and not being rebeillious, like Satan and the sons of Korah and so on.

  Then supporting the secrecy becomes a mark of submission.

  I have distinct memories of thinking that people who were always questioning were "weak".

  Now that I have a clear head I can see it but when I was in I couldnt.

  Interesting to hear this James Jack. It gives us an opportunity to look at this from another perspective.

  I appreciate your compassion towards him. I am glad to see that you have a human kindness in you that the "Org" is so lacking in.

  Who knows? Perhaps your kindness standing in stark contrast to the treatment hes received might make him wonder too.

  You have support here!

  In the Witness arrangement, she really shouldnt date you until you are baptized. The fact that you are saying "nothing has happened" should only warrant what is called "strong counsel" at this point.

  The problem is going to be that they will want you to cease meeting each other until after your baptism.

  I know that will be hard but that is going to be what they tell you.
