Love it OUTLAW!
AC/DC couldnt have said it better
i was reading another thread and the comments got me thinking.... https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/5656910430732288/pictures-tell-thousand-words.
comments such as oldskools: more like digital colonialism channeled through one of the weaker and less important institutions western society has to offer.. .
some have compared the orgs future path to the world wide church of gods.

So no one sees them as "Catholic church like"?
Of course I am not meaning the modern day church with a pope traveling and blessing people and a much lighter approach in general.
I am talking about when if you were Catholic you were "apart" (in America at least)
JFK was the first Catholic president.
People were routinely ostracized for marrying out of the faith.
A persons children "belonged" to the church.
Of course the child sexual abuse situation was at its height.
Confessing your sins to the elders priest was big if you were practicing your faith.
In the case of the Catholic church they have backed way off of peoples everyday lives.
So will JW dot Org do that or will they do as some feel in the comments above and become more cult like?

Some have compared the Orgs future path to the World Wide Church of Gods. Others view it as being more like Scientology or Mormonism.

Looking back over history we see the colonization the Church did
The absolute authority of the church over the peoples daily lives big and small
Demands for material support
Exclusivity from other religions
Loyalty from birth onward
Excommunication (even for marrying a non Catholic in days past)
Papal authority (in the case of the JWs - shared by GB)
Warwick = The Papal city
(Im sure this is a very short list and there are more comparisons to be had)
Obviously the JWs are coming along too late in civilizations history to enjoy the meteoric rise the Catholic church did but is that a prototype being followed?
If the best indication of the future is the past, which religious entity seems to point to the future outcome of Jehovahs WItnesses?
my middle brother called me a couple of hours ago.
our youngest brother, josh, who was 38, was found by his friends in his apartment.
he hung himself.
Just wanted to say hello and offer ongoing support and love to you in handling everything that you are dealing with.
Glad the meeting with your niece went well. I hope it goes smoothly with your mom in town as well.
Thank you for updates, take good care of yourself.
is something going on in jw land i don't know about.
she and her new husband and my two.
grand daughters, one i have never seen.
SO heartwarming to read this thread James.
I am so happy for you and very happy that grandchild got to meet you!!
a few years before i woke up, a young man in my congregation went to ministerial training school.
he began to speak about some of the things he had learned.
one of the things mentioned was that of incubus or succubus, that is to say, sex demons.
Wow Robo Bobo, that was so "out there" to read in a religious themed publication.
Even more interesting when you hear that this was still being mentioned at MS school nowadays.
I was curious to see if this was a frequent topic in the publications but to my surprise you cant look at Watchtower volumes that are older?
What is the point of a reference library then?
This link is visible to one article but I couldnt access it.

so we all know that the old revelation book is "old light" and the gb would like to sweep it under the rug.
however, since they have been reinterpreting many of the parables from the gospels, many jws are confused as to how it all fits in with the book of revelation.
plus, they have been emphasizing the nearness of the end and the gt.
This may be my own off the wall thinking but I dont believe there has been any writing for a long time now.
All the new literature seems to be copy/paste of the older stuff just reformatted.
It is edited to soften and blur it also.
I guess the term dumbing down comes to mind.
I think they either
a) dont have any good writers surging to the forefront, or
s) have too much in-fighting for control of what will/wont get published that basically nothing fresh gets in to print.
the wts has gone off the rails and is "unrepentantly" hateful.
they are blatantly requiring mothers and fathers to disown/hate their own children that they have loved and cared for since birth simply because they don't comply with the orgs demands.
how is this love?
Wonderful post SIAM,
I find it especially telling that none of the JWs in your hotel felt inclined at all to "share" their marvelous religion with you.
anyone else notice that in the video where the sister was reinstated after many years of freedom, that the congregation applauded at the announcement of her reinstatement?
it been a few years since i was an elder, but when i was, we were instructed by the co that it was "not appropriate" to applaud when the announcement of a reinstatement is made from the platform.
his words, "because the one being reinstated is only doing what they should be doing!".
I know DF announcements used to not be made during a C.O.s visit.
How about reinstatements?

I swear, a JW should invent an app for all the flip flops over tiny little rules like this.
Then a good Jw would know what they are allowed to do and not do this month.
And did they really write an article giving permission for spontaneous clapping?
Sadly and surreally, yes they did.
