Funny joke!
I have to say, I would rather blunder through life "unguarded" than have a creepy voyeur assigned to me -protective or not!
first of all a joke i read, a middle aged woman has a heart attack and is taken to the hospital.
while on the operating table she has a near-death experience.
during the experience she sees her guardian angel and ask if this is her time.
Funny joke!

this past year has been the most life changing year anyone could ever go through.
waking up, leaving the cult, separating from my wife, research, research, research, reading, pondering etc.
and i've found myself having to re-learn and re-evaluate everything i thought i knew.
Good OP.
I like your take on Rutherford, Pale. The whole post is good but that part especially resonates with me.
The entire religion seems to have gone in a worse direction when he took control.
Funny the JWs distance themselves from Russell but not from "The Judge." (sarcasm intended)
why the big controversy over baptizing the dead, they are dead folks..i know it's a quirky practice but jewish leaders are up in arms because the lds leaders are baptizing holocaust victims..what harm is it??
?hell jw's are preaching everyone will go up in flames no one believe that crap except jw but no one is up in arms, they know they walk a different step....the lds leaders agreed to halt baptisms specifically of jews holocaust victims in 2010 but they are at it again, baptizing jews.
this is funny as hell to me.
People do so many things under the banner of being "helpful".
Lots of the things that get done are not helpful at all and can be harmful.
At least in this case they are not able to do harm or hurt the dead people because they are well...dead and therefore beyond the reach of the determined "helpful".
some quick background information: my dad (her firstborn son) died unexpectedly this past october.
his death has really hit our family hard.
personally, i have not totally come to terms with this.
Hi MyName, first let me say I am sorry for your loss of your grandfather. He sounds like he was a good man.
As for your grandmother, I think the upcoming Memorial and her actions will tell you a lot.
All the best to you and your grandmother.
i've been thinking about this the past few days and curious what the honest consensus is here just for fun.. show of hands,.
is the governing body.... a: completely sincere.
they really do believe what they teach.. b: somewhat sincere.
D. They are sincere in the way that deluded people are sincere but 100% wrong.
I guess that makes them sincerely wrong.
we were all told when we were in the watchtower that we should be grateful to be part of such a loving family.
we were told that just beyond the superficial glamour of the world was a quagmire of despair, emptiness and pain waiting to suck us in.
obviously, we took that part with a mountain of salt or we wouldn't be here today.
I think there is a pretty good balance here on this forum.
does anyone know what the publisher totals were for 2015 compared to 2016 for australia?
i can't find them anywhere and was wondering if the royal commission hearing had any effect on the numbers.
.
jwleaks
Don't forget to remove Terrence O'Brien from the Australian total publisher numbers. The governing body have expelled him toSiberiaPapua New Guinea.
Interesting information. How did you find this. It seems very significant to me because it is a silent admission that they are displeased with him.
Why would they be displeased if this is all about nothing, as they are trying to pretend?
i have heard rumors and anecdotes of j.f.
rutherford calling women "a hank of hair and a stack of bones" but i never thought it was documented.
well thanks to jwfacts i finally found the quote in print.. this j.f.

Just because that was a quote doesn't mean that he wasn't dissing women. He's the asshat that chose to quote that. He put pursuing women down. He clearly didn't respect the pursuit of a relationship. That's also just one of the things he said. Guy clearly didn't think highly of women. I'm surprised to see women taking up for him.
Hi dubstepped,
Not sure who the "women" (as in plural) are who are taking up for him in your view but to be totally transparent and clear -
I wanted the entire story.
What he said, its source of origin, what he meant, etc.
I dont bond through "pile on" threads or through group hate.
I am here for encouragement and most importantly an education in to this religion and its leaders.
I want to take deadly aim at the hydra that is this religion and to me, calm cool factual reason is the way to do that.
Pushing the "woman" button just simply isnt enough. I needed clarification.

Millie210, you are correct, Rutherford was quoting from a poem called "The Vampire" by Rudyard Kipling. It's online if anyone wants to look.
In the poem a man is enamored of a faithless woman and can't see it but his friends can. The phrase that Rutherford quoted he did quite accurately since he was discussing losing out on the heavenly calling to chase after something not worth the time and effort. Rutherford was not being sexist, he wasn't dissing women, he was pointing out what a loss it would be to pursue such a course.
Quoting well-known poetry is a technique used in public speaking by persons with a classical education. It's the unenlightened who tear him apart in their ignorance.
Thank you AnneB. I thought that is what I remembered but I appreciate the specifics.
I have no respect for Rutherford but I want to stay within factual bounds in my "disrespect". If I get any thing wrong at all (saying he is responsible for an original statement when he was merely quoting - however repugnant the statement) I discredit myself as a person who is factual and I do not want to do that.
My family has always known me as a factual and credible person until I "left the truth" and it is more important than ever that I demonstrate factual behavior.
Fortunately, there is enough damning evidence to convict this religion (as well as Rutherford) without having to resort to being wildly inflammatory to get a reaction.

I thought Rutherford was quoting that from somewhere else?
