I got a kick out of the paisley dress the sister was wearing and the green Bible. Oh yes, and the 6 inch wide hair band!
(As if THAT doesnt pin down the time frame they want people to think about!)
okay, so everyone is bent out of shape about how the wts is re-writing their history on their past failed predictions (1975).
other threads deal in all the evidence to tear apart their shameless propaganda, so i won't dwell on that here.. but, what i will do is list a couple of observations, silly as they are, that aren't about the propaganda so much as it is about the set design, and costume design.
feel free to add to the list.. early scene where the wife is dying.

no mention whatsoever that it was watchtower themselves that strongly hinted towards this date.
instead they blame those who "put their trust in a date, not jehovah".. let's recap... .
Hi Skepsis!
The first year I skipped going, I watched it all online.
It just served to make me glad I didn't go...
In latter years I didn't have the wherewithal to watch all that so I read the transcripts of the outlines the speakers were using.
This year, I doubt I will even do that.
Its a process!

Ironic that in the video they make the statement that personal study such as Jesus words that "no man knows the day nor the hour" are what helped in coping.
That is a reasoning point from Ray Franz book "Crisis of Conscience" in the chapter on 1975.
What do you want to bet that book is reference material for the writing committee now?
this took quite a while this evening.
so worth it though.
hope you enjoy!
Just as good as the first time!
Thanks 2!
P.S. Which GB member is that trying to dance and do a split with the girl?
Remember that song "Would Jesus Wear A Rolex On His Television Show?"
Guess it was prophecy!
Wasnt there a flurry of comments on someones watch once before in a video the Org produced? Then, the next time the person was on a video the watch was absent?
The case of the flip flopping watch brought to you by the flip flopping religion!
i think the finished mystery book probably contains the stupidest beliefs ever recorded!
almost any prophecy publication but especially anything to do with revelation, is unbelievable!
.
the belief that anyone turns in an accurate service report!

gofundme, 3 may 2017. help find lianna lefler gibson.
Reading around at the links she was troubled and suffered from depression.
Sounds about right for a poor kid stuck in the religion, poor thing.
how do the gb micro-manage people's lives today?one example is their micro management in dress and grooming.
eg their view of beards.
elders in most congs will take a brother to a corner and remind him why jws don't grow beards.
Thanks WTWizard. I am no good with dates and trying to work off memory. What you are saying sounds right to me!
So question....do they actually ask people about this stuff or are you supposed to confess? Like their policy on the big "M" word? (masturbation)
how do jw's view the following scripture or how differently does it read in their version?.
1 timothy 5:8- anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.-niv.
but if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.-kjv.
In my experience they apply it this way:
- C.O.s and their wives begrudgingly leave the Circuit work to care for a parent (maybe they are secretly relieved though who knows?) because of that scripture.
- It is used by the Elder body to keep someone from being appointed if they dont want the man in the first place. If they DO want him, it is ignored.
- If you are giving ANY financial help whatsoever either locally to the congregation or to Headquarters, this scripture becomes invisible and no one mentions it at all. The Org trumps scripture. Always.
