I've been reading a little, its interesting. I can see how keeping clutter out of your home & using certain colors on the walls can reduce stress in your life. I don't quite understand the whole windchime thing. And how do I figure my Kua number: I was born in 1970 and I'm a woman because that's supposed to tell me if I'm an East person or a West person and what my not so good directions are.

The Ways JW's Irritate People
by minimus inone thing that i am becoming more and more aware of is that jehovah's witnesses can be mighty irritating people.
for example, a few jw's were gossipping about how the elders are stupid and useless.then in the same breath, when someone has a problem, one of them will ask,"why don't you tell the elders about this, so you can get some help?
" or you'll hear people complain about how there's nobody that treats them nice, and yet they are the biggest complainers in the world.

I didn't realize just how annoying witnesses are until leaving the org. I've talked to friends and neighbors who have never been witnesses but, of course, have had them call at their door and asked them their honest opinion of witnesses. Their opinion: the witnesses rank way down there with telemarketers, big time.
Now I'm on the other side of the door, and I can attest the the fact that they can be annoying.

Don't worry, I lose myself all of the time. Sometimes I turn up in really odd places. And sometimes I lose myself for a really loooong time, then when I find myself again, its like I'm brand new.
Welcome, look forward to hearing more from you.

disgusting comment made
by SpiceItUp inso i'm helping out my mother with her garage sale this weekend.
kinda boring sitting around in the heat (although i can't complain too much since we were in a nice patch of shade and had a decent breeze).
a "customer" pulls in and my mother quietly whispers to me "isn't that so-n-so's dad (a dub girl i went to school with).

((((((outoftheorg)))))
this brought tears to my eyes, how true:
I can not stress strongly enough, to all that may read this, that loving your children, (even if they do not meet your requirements), is the most important emotional support and education you can give them. Then they can do this for their children.

I remember once getting a shepherding call by only one elder. It was shortly after my husband and I were married and we had been put on the rotation list.
This elder shows up and was acting very strange, like he was really nervous, very out-of-character for him. He talked for a few minutes about a Watchtower article then asked to use the phone. He uses the phone in the other room and after he was thru said he needed to get going. After he left, my husband and I just looked at each other and talked about how strange he acted and how he was only there for ten minutes.
Maybe a month later, he was disfellowshipped along with a sister from the hall. They had been having frequent rendezvous. They ran off together, both leaving long-time marriages and adult children behind. This affair really affected the congregation and people in field service even brought it up - small town.
We think that he may have been meeting up with the 'other woman' the day of our shepherding call, and used that as an excuse with his wife. lol

goofy, don't feel bad
After we quit going to meetings, the elders and others from the hall would stop by and I got tired of it after a while so I quit answering the door and they got the point after a while. It got to be quite annoying, I live in a convenient spot for them to stop by and get warmed up and still keep counting time. A couple of Saturdays I had several car groups stop in the same day. Or we would have someone stopping by on Sat. then someone on Sun. & the elders like to spend a couple of hours trying to pry info. out of you.
I don't answer the door when I am not presentable I care who it is. I figure if its important enough, whoever it is will come back later or call before they come again.
You didn't invite them, they just showed up unexpectedly at your door. They have reasons for not calling before they come. 1.Its easier for you to say over the phone that its not a good time than face-to-face 2.They like to catch you off-guard
If you ever need to talk, I'm here

Cults & mind control -What is the best book you've read on these subjects?
by MoeJoJoJo in.
what do you recommend?
what did you like most about the book?

Thank you all for your responses! I'm going to see if the local library has any of your recommendations.
I've read alot of articles on the net dealing with cult mind control but I wanted to get a good book.
A JW from my old hall is one of the librarians at my local library, I'll have to go when she's working; maybe she will be a little nosy and check out what I'm reading and have a look for herself.
I'm also hoping to find one, that I think my JW mom would read, hopefully she might be open-minded enough.
