Is Governing Body Hysteria Just Emotion?
by metatron inthe more i read about the kool aid watchtower articles and assembly programs, the more i wonder if most of this reactionary garbage is just triggered by the emotions of thugs like losch and largely unrelated to general witness malaise.. sure, reading 'apostate' blogs or being too chummy with your df'd kids may increase witness disaffiliation.
but by far, that doesn't begin to capture the core reasons why witnesses are drifting away and, more importantly, it suggests that the governing nazis are grossly blind to how much of a facade their cult has become.
for every witness eating with their 'faded away' kids, there are five others who are smoking, viewing porn, drinking, and acting like 'worldly people' outside of the kingdom hall.

My thoughts about John 16:1-3
by TimothyT inthe gospel according to john is my favourite book of the bible.
i've just picked up where i left off reading it at chapter 16. i havnt looked at the bible since being disfellowshipped and i read the first 3 verses:.
1 i have told you these things so that you wont abandon your faith.2for you will be expelled from the synagogues, and the time is coming when those who kill you will think they are doing a holy service for god.3this is because they have never known the father or me.. jesus encouraged his disciples not to lose their faith, it seems when they would be thrown out of the religion they belonged to.

Terry, I like you. Your a shoot from the hip kinda guy. I don't always agree with you, and you do bring different perpectives to the table. But, what is real world thinking? Survival of the fittest, concore and destroy, kill or be killed, keeping up with the jones, getting over on someone, shall I go on? Terry we all have different realitys in life. Your keepin it real in the real world and I as a christian am keepin it real in my biblical world. peaceTerry paulnotsaul

possible-san, I'll start off by saying thank-you for your opinions. I watched that video first of all. Three things I want to comment on. 1) Where is your source that gods name was taken out of the NT. 2) In most of the video 'the name' was in a triangle? 3) This video looks like the WTBTS produced it. My point of this tread is not the use of god's name but the speaking of it out of your mouth. I am all for letting people know god has a name. But how can I sanctify it by saying it freely out of my mouth? Example, my dad has a name, but I don't expect you to refer to him by it. Unless he tells you otherwise. If the jews didn't speak the divine name and they were the foundation of gods people, then what makes christians think they can say it so freely? To this day the jewish people sanctify gods name by not saying it. I hope this clears up my opinions on saying the divine name. I started this thread very late last night and I don't think I worded it wright. sorryAll paulnotsaul

Stupid Rule: "Necessary Business" Is Acceptable With Disfellowshipped Family Members....
by minimus inand if you live with them, you can carry on in a somewhat "normal" relationship but if they move out, you must treat them like shit..

With what journey-on said about not being dunked but born in. My parents used to regularly talk to me. That was before I started apostasizing to them. Now they barely talk to me. I've since stopped badgering them, but I noticed the change. My grandma let the cat out of the bag when she said: " I'll still talk to you ". Now she still a JW. But she is old school. And nobody is going to tell her who she can and can't talk to. peaceAll paulnotsaul

Did you witness at school?
by NomadSoul ini grew up being a witness.
i remember in elementary and somewhat in middle school i used to be really outspoken about being a witness.
i even had my own study with a classmate, which thankfully he lost interest because i was getting tired of it too.. but high school was a different story.

Only if the situation applied. Like made me look good like I knew something nobody else knew. When really I didn't know jack, just what I was told to know at the meeting. I sure fooled them. I guess in the end the joke was on me. peacejokers paulnotsaul

We can agree on three things. 1) In Exodus 3:13-14 Moses asks God his name and who sent him to them. God says his name is I Am THAT I AM. 2) The apostles ask Jesus how to pray to God in Matthew 6:9-15 Jesus refers to God as Father. 3) In the same prayer we ask that God's name be sanctified, to be made sacred or holy. So where do JWs get there info that the divine name must be known/ used when the bible makes no such claim that it should be used as quoted above. peace paulnotsaul

This thread got me thinking about my JW days and how everyone would gossip before and after the meetings about who was in the hospital/sick and whatever else they could yap about. I don't recall anyone saying that they would pray for them. Once in a while they would ask for prayers for someone. Overall very cold atmosphere. Where I attend church now there is a part in the service where you stand up and share your joys and concerns. Its refreshing to be able to openly share with your congregation. The grass is greener on the other side of the fence, for me. peaceAll paulnotsaul
