let's paint a little picture.. it's spring 2002. at 1200h gmt a radio and tv announcement is broadcast on almost all conventional frequencies, in appropriate formats according to the medium and the area.. it's from a bunch of pale violet humaniods who have come "in peace for all qw'z'x>kind".
they say they want to meet up with the un in full cnongress.. disbelief rapidly turns to amasement when cnn and other news-services provide footage of a large alien vessel descending into the river near the un.
large in this case means 5km long... and wisely, none of the sac jets sent to have a look pull a will smith or anything stupid, although one gets nudgeed gently away by an invisable beam of some sort when it gets too close.. let's say it becomes apparent the aliens are utter benign, happy to hand out technological aid, scientific knowledge, and hope to welcome the people of earth to your typical peaceful federation of planets (about 5,00 different species all told).. how do you think people would react?

Closer,
Thanks for posting that, I really enjoyed it. I love Paul Harvey I agree with Eyebrow and I am glad that we did not have much growing up, and I still do not care if I have material things. It will amaze you what I can do with $100

i just returned home from the hospital.
my sister in law had a mis- carriage today.
it was a very sad day for her and my wifes family.
Infrared,
Oh my heart goes out to your family now. I also feel that in such situations there really is nothing that can be said that can ease a person's pain. I suffered a miscarriage and wish that people would have acknowledged it, been there if I needed to talk then moved on. The comments they made did nothing for me but enrage me and offered no real ease to my pain. Everyone deals with loss differently and though for years we may spout something we feel is comforting until it happens to us, we do not realize how shallow it sounds.
Your family will be in my thoughts today.
love,
wendy

a few months ago, 'somebody' - or 'chag' to h20'-ers, and i, had some dialogue about smiley music.. 'smiley' music is music that brings a great big smile to your face, when you hum or whistle along to it, you just can't help a big grin spreading from ear to ear.
it has to be good enough for you to say "wow, that is good", it has to be good enough for someone to take the trouble to wait for the download via audiogalaxy before they have even heard it.. so, what music / song can you recommend to others like me?
bear in mind, please, that i shall post my opinions very, very honestly, especially if it takes forever to download!.
Amarie!
LOL I first thought of that song when I read this thread. I was afraid that it might be offensive to some. I have to admit it is hysterical though! I downloaded it from Bearshare.
Eman, now I have DSL I don't have to wait so long for songs to DL. Of course I have almost 1000 songs, so I guess that is bad in a way as well.

skip starbuck aka mindchild .
many years ago on a spring day to pleasant to be outdoors pioneering, something strange happened to two jehovahs witnesses.
have you ever wondered exactly what it was inside religion that makes people kill each other?
Skipper,
I have to say I am impressed, I was right in saying it would be a whammy of a post. I too liked what Abaddon had to say concerning the scientific rationalism meme combatting the faith meme. I would prefer that scenario over yours. Of course that is probably my faith meme talking
As far as a collapse of the religion of JW's I had not thought of the prospects of so many needing help. I know we see here on a smaller scale those who have a time regrouping, and starting over again, after they had left. To imagine that on a much larger scale is mind boggling. I agree that it will be a strain on any govermental body or community to provide services to those.
Not long ago I was of the mindset that those inside the religion especially the olders ones are better off inside, with their blinders on. They are content with their lifestyle and happy to have a wonderful promise of paradise. My mind had changed on this and I felt that it is important to tell others the truth about the religion they so blindly follow. After reading your article, I am not so sure.
Thanks you for taking the time and effort and posting this for us. I do appreciate it.

LOL Lisa,
Would you believe me if I told you I often think of this thread when I am deciding which "t" word to use? I am so ashamed of my writing skills, the only writing I did in my day to day life was minimal and even with work we had alot of abbreviations, so I did not use those skills at all. I have learned alot in the past year, not just grammatically either My first post here I did all in caps, how was I to know that was a big sin on the net? I thought it would be easier to read...lol
Hope that baby is letting you rest some
