Well since this thread is on the front page, I might as well add my thoughts here as well. It is obvious that this issue is not over, because there is still discussion even after Tina has left the building.

How many of us thought the JW way was the right way? In hindsight we can see how flawed we were to have believed it am I correct? How many times has it been said here, "I can't believe I swallowed that for so long." Then we have the ones who still don't see it, and defend the org until they are blue in the face, only to come back later and say they realize now the deciet they could not see before. Our take on the actual transfer of emotions may not be the same, or the events leading up to our change of opinion

So is quoting a person's comments from close to a year ago and comparing them with what they feel now an accurate way to determine if a person is a "proven" liar? I mean can you even call that person a liar? Am I liar because at one time I dedicated my life to the JW's? I swore I would follow god and the org down to my last breath, now I feel differently. So I am a liar right? Oh I guess you can label me as an oath breaker as well, and not trustworthy to fulfill my commitments. [8>]

We are really digging deep here aren't we, to label a person as a proven liar when all it is, is a change of opinion. An eye opening revelation of who is feeding us the garbage and what we were willing to swallow.

I agree with my post 100% Amen Can't we just move on to bigger and better things now? I always hated when I watched the nature shows when the hyenas, and vultures came after the carcass was already divided up into tiny bitty pieces. But they really enjoyed it fighting to the death to get that last morsel of rotten flesh, ughhh seeing the blood on their mouths and bodies repulsed me. This is what this reminds me of.

The bigger dick policy

as a george carlin fan i keep thinking he has got a point when he says that men are generally very insecure about their dick size.

countries go to war if they think someone got bigger dicks than them.. lately there seem to have been such a lesser scale war here on the board.

the problem in this particular case is that the ones who quite obviously got bigger dicks were women!.

Hey all
Thank you for the support! I really appreciate the kind comments. I was a mess when I posted that and yesterday was not much better. When upsets start affecting your physical health then it is time to face them head on, and put an end to the insanity. I did say in my first post I would rather stay optimistic and I still feel this way. Well when the ball dropped and I was hurt, it really crushed me. I guess I just needed some time to accept that. I can see now that not everyone plays by the rules. And to expect them to is only hurting me. But I refuse to let this learning experience to damper my opinion of others. I will maintain my optimism and that has to be a good thing huh?

The spring analogy

i think most witnesses (and ex-wits) will have heard of the "spring analogy" often used by witnesses in "youth talks".. it states that a young person who is "let on the loose" too quickly by his/her parents can be like a spring which is held tightly between the fingers and then suddenly released.

both can fly off in any random direction.. i was just thinking this could probably be applied to those leaving any sort of constraining, or limiting, situation.

(think cults, etc.).

Hey:) welcome to the forum.

It is funny you mention this as maybe a month ago I also brought this up in another thread. I recieved a few emails concerning it, see not many people will post to a thread, but they do read it. I think after so much control is excercised over us, all of our time alloted to spiritual things, we have alot of time on our hands after this. Not many know what to do with this extra time. Funny those who come here usually are addicted for the first few weeks, soaking up all this info.

As far as going out of control, experiencing things that were once forbidden, I believe that is an on individual basis. There are things I am not comfortable doing these day that would qualify me for being a great JW But I have done things that others think is over the top. To each his own.

Tom is confident that our little Riley will appear on St Patty's Day. We plan on going in the 18th and physically removing him, but Tom says the luck of the Irish is with the lad and he will arrive in time of this joyous event. haha.

Speaking of corned beef and cabbage, Oh I want it sooo bad! I can't cook it in the house anymore. Miranda gets so ill when I do. Just the smell from it makes her vomit and so weak, poor kid. If we go to someones house and they have cooked cabbage in the last week, her nose smells it and she gets sick. How strange is that? I miss it though, and I would love to have some!

Death and Forgiveness

my father died wednesday night.

he's been bedridden, paralyzed, and tube fed for nearly five years, so it was more release than tragedy.. those of you who know my story will understand the miserable mix of emotions his passing has caused.

the whole guilt and forgiveness issue shoved itself right up my nose into my forebrain.

For those who've left - any regrets?

i left almost nine years ago at age 18; my only real regret was that i was good friends with a young brother and i never said goodbye to him, or even let him know that i was planning to leave (had to leave my parents' home secretly while they were at the meeting one sunday; they had such a hold over me that i could never have stood up to them and told them beforehand).

.

i have no other regrets about leaving; i'm am now happily agnostic and so thankful that i found the strength to break free.. anyone have any similar regrets?

I have been out for 9 years so I am sure I would have recieved the same welcome, also I am not DA or DF. I know they say funerals are a way of helping thsoe who lost the person, a sense of closure for "us", I missed out on this. I have decided to send a card to the parents, and this will help me feel a bit better on this issue. It is funny to be amongst them again isn't it? Keep styling
