Neyank, I was raised a jw so basically I had no choice. What I can tell you is how that affected me.
Everytime an older person in the congregation died, I went to sleep scared fearing tomorrow was gonna be armageddon. This was not the only time growing up I had fear. I was frightened alot.
I also was looking forward to perfection as well, My mom had a disability and was unable to do alot of things, and I was excited to be able to run dance and play with her.

reading the 1914 thread brought a question to mind.. how many of us became jws because of witnesses coming to our doors telling us that christ came into power invisibly in 1914 and this generation that saw those events would not pass away untill all those things took place?.
i.e.the new system coming.satan bound for a thousand years.people becoming perfect.ect,ect........ neyank

i thought it would be interesting to read about little known news from around the world, so i'll start with some from the tiny dot where i live on this ball of mud we call earth.. i just read in the paper this morning that the people of port clinton, ohio are celebrating new years by dropping a 500 pound fiberglass walleye fish into lake erie.
we people here in ohio have a certain panache.. the tornado in xenia, ohio this summer missed my daughter's house by a block and a half.

we have a saying here Northerners are like hemmoroids~when they come down and go back up they are ok. But when they come down and stay down they are a pain in @#$:)

You have gone to great lengths to provide this and I LOVE IT!!
I left the truth when I was 18 (see I still called it the truth) those catch phrases really get you don't they?
Or maybe we have all been brainwashed and thats why they are stuck there:)
Eons ago I remember an article in W or A that asked if we had an open mind. Do you remember? Well I never read it didnt even open it up why? I was never aloud to have an open mind! I was spoon fed from infancy. As I look back at some of the things I was taught, I can see why they say hindsight is 20/20.
Unfortunately so many people waste the precious life we have been given, pursuing the JW "Final Destination"
Think of the families torn apart, Hearts broken, lives lost so they can live forever in paradise:)

Growing up my mom use to say to us, when we used to tell her we loved her she would say I love you to, BUT I love Jehovah more! Sad to say she proved after I left the truth by refusing to talk to me for YEARS.And she use to tell us about the day "they" would come to persecute us and would kill us right before her eyes but she wouldnt back down because of her faith in God!
This is some sick *&^%stuff
Evidencing the whole org is built on fear and guilt.

You can't really pick and choose doctrines in the jw faith can you? It is an all or nothing religion that is the way I was taught.

thanx for the hug pathofthorns:) what I was trying to say is if the society views they shouldnt read apostate literature then, they never would have gotten past the first few lines of his resignation letter. Do you really think they read what we have sent them?
STRUGGLE I am not understanding you sorry. Ialso don't know how to put your words up here like everyone else does:( But the statement you made about not having kids,but trust you even though you have loyalty to orginazation, but NOTHING & NOONE could convince you not to take action in a case like this.
my question is~ where do you draw the line as to how far you will follow this org?
Iknow that there was some very sensitive things I have done for this org.including but not limited to lying, manipulating words,trapping fellow members(dirty work for the elders)all of this because I chose to follow the org ANYWHERE
Happily today I feel no need to assign myself to an org. of any type unless of course I miracuously find one that shares EVERY belief I have which is not likely
my point to you struggle is~ If you dont believe in everything how can you be called a jw? You are representing them. So please think long and hard about your beliefs and pray to god he might not answer you today or tomorrow or the next day but when he does you will make th eright choice and your heart will be FREE and hopefully your struggle over:)
