Birthdays & the Cult of the Diminished Indi...
by joelbear inyesterday was my birthday.
i got greetings from a number of friends from here in atlanta and also from people who had never met me from around the world since my birthday announcement was carried on a couple of the central bear pages on the internet.. there is clearly no prohibition against birthdays in the bible.
the reason the watchtower prohibits birthday celebrations is the same reason they discourage college, extracurricular activities in school, etc.

JW Family, How Do They Drive You Up The Wall?
by Celtic inmany of us still have jw family still very much held within the congregation.
personally, i love my family but they do have this uncanny ability at times to absolutely drive me nuts in sheer exasperation.
the things particularly that really gets my goat are the following: .

I have said this before but the hot and cold behavior towards me. I also can not stand the " Jehovah will take care of it" who cares attitude when something horrible happens.

Is there anything that could make you go back?
by sleepy inis there anything that could make you go back?.
what do you think, is there any change of belief or change of circumstance that could make you return to the jw fold?.
i cant see anything that could make me go back, but i was thinking mabye some of you religious types would go back if they changed some doctrinal things,or if they stopped banning blood.. how about if a family member was dying and hoped to see you in paradise would you go back for a while just to make them feel happy?

No, It took me years to recover from that hell. I would never put my kids through that. I love my freedom to much.

I feel the same way when I look at my little ones. they are so filled with love and innocence. Their own Grandfather knows firsthand of abuse in the cong. as I was a victim. I don't know how that man can sleep at night. My oldest daughter is almost the same age I was when I was molested and if someone did to her what happened to me, I would do whatever it took to get justice.

Bonezz,
I really feel you. My Mom went through a really rough time when my Brother got married a few months ago. His fiance didn't want my mom to even go to the wedding. She sent a letter to my Mom Basically saying she didn't want anything to do with my Mom except if my Mom needed help. My Brother called her and really wanted her to be at the wedding so she went for him.
I talked to my Brother other day and he said my stepmom didn't want my Mom at the wedding and even had talked to the Elders about it. They approached my brother and he said theysaid we could go but not reception. Your Daughter might be being pressured by Elder's. They like to push the knife a little deeper. Try to go if you can, I went to my brother's wedding with my mom. We even made up a little code if we were loosing it. I had to tell my Mom a couple of times during the wedding it's just one day, we are here for your son. I have never been so proud of my mom in my whole life. She sat there with dignity and grace. I hope you can go with someone who can be a support for you. Take care of yourself .

"Against our will...."
by Dia inwe who were 'raised in it' and had no choice about becoming part of this goofy religion, let's discuss our experiences collectively.. personally, i always feel that it was like having parents who were nazi's or members of the kkk.
almost no one can possibly understand what you've been through.
it was so radical.. and so harmful.

It makes me a little sad when my kids ask me what I did when I was a kid or what did I get for my birthday or christmas as a child. The holidays are such fun with kids, simple things like a birthday cake, Easter egg hunt, or making christmas cookies has such special memories. I have none as a JW kid. I really have to think for awhile to remember any fun with my family as a kid.

Well my JW brother came by for another visit. He said he was angry at his new wife because she doesn't want him coming to visit me. I didn't say anything bad about her but inside I was thinking keep it up pioneer wifey and your new hubby won't be a dubby.
