A number of years ago the WT made a statement in an article during Christmas time that the star of bethlehem was in fact a UFO. They didn't spell out the word UFO but they said it was manifestation of some being.

Could there really be something to the UFO phenomena? Amazing documentary
by yadda yadda 2 init's easy to just poo-poo the ufo thing, especially if you're naturally very skeptical after your jw experience as i am, but when you see documentary's like this it seems undeniable that some kind of inexplicable phenomenon is occuring.
.
could vehement deniars of the ufo phenomenon please suspend their criticisms until they've at least watched the whole documentary, to be fair to others who are more open-minded on this subject.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjismjxshpg.

I think the offshoot story between Dr. Aaron J. Smith and Dr. Philip W. Gooch in 1950 is an interesting twist with the Seola/Angels and Women novel content.
Here’s a comparison of the three stories:
Dr. Gooch’s story held by a Masonic order:
Japheth’s wife’s name is Amoela.
Container holding the diary is in a crystal quartz case and has tempered gold hinges and clasps.
Amoela dies at age 547 and is mummified.
The diary was found by a high ranking Mason in latter part of the nineteenth century. The original and the translation are in the possession of a Masonic Order.
Angels and Women novel revision:
Japheth’s wife’s name is Aloma.
Container holding the journal is a cylinder of purple amethyst crystal which has a spring mechanism.
Aloma dies at age 500. Type of burial preservation not mentioned, only dust remains.
Journal found by Edmund and Monsieur S---- in the twentieth century. The original crumbled to powder after the last words of the journal were translated.
Seola novel:
Japhet’s wife’s name is Seola.
Container holding the journal is a cylinder of purple amethyst crystal which has a spring mechanism.
Seola dies at age 800. Type of burial preservation not mentioned, only dust remains.
Journal found by Edmund and Monsieur S---- in the nineteenth century. The original crumbled to powder after the last words of the journal were translated.
I wonder if someone from the Masonic lodge read both Seola and Angels and Women and somehow fused both stories together. I find it interesting that the age of her death was very specific in the diary of Amoela with the age of 547 and that the original diary still exists. Did the Knights Templars really stumble onto something?
Here’s a link for details about the Amoela diary.

Comparing the foreword of “Angels and Women (1924)” to the Appendix of “Seola (1878)”, mainly the sections invoking this conspiracy.
Angels and Women – foreword
“The reviser of this book is of the opinion that the original manuscript was dictated to the woman who wrote it by one of the fallen angels who desired to return to divine favor.”
Seola – appendix
“Seola is a fantasy, revealed to the writer while listening to the performance of an extraordinary musical composition. It was sudden and unforeseen as the landscape which sometimes appears to a benighted traveler, for one instant only, illumined by the lightning’s flash.
It does not therefore pretend to be either history or theology, but yet the theory upon which the story is founded is in strict accordance with the sacred writings of the Hebrews and traditions of other ancient nations. It may be briefly stated.
In the early ages of the world angelic beings became incarnate, assumed the likeness of men, left the service of God, visited the earth, mingled in its affairs, formed the most intimate connection with women and became the fathers of a progeny physically magnificent and spiritually corrupt. These powerful and depraved beings subverted the government of the earth and filled it with intolerable crimes. The Almighty put an end to this unnatural condition by sending a great deluge to destroy the kingdom of the Devas with their giant offspring and by imprisoning them in chains and darkness the angels who had been guilty of the offence, though certain evil spirits are still permitted to roam the earth.
This theory, set forth in a work entitled “From Dawn to Sunrise,” having been the subject of much comment, it may be proper to recapitulate the evidence of its truth in this place.”
The reviser of Angels and Women was in error about it being an automatic writing. The appendix section of Seola clearly states that this was the work of the imagination, with a great deal of research as its source. Maybe if they left out the foreword section of Angels and Women there wouldn’t be this kind of accusation. The society today should just apologize about the foreword and mention it again in the Awake! Magazine and see what the publishers think. That would be a doozy. In my opinion the story is great but it’s not for everyone.

"Among some brethren it was a favorite and among others taboo."
Lets's say most toboo and a very few it's a favorite. That's what I find today.

Thanks for searching out that old thread by LivingtheDream. It was funny to learn about his discovery of the book Angels and Women at the bethel library. With him being so interested in Greek and Roman mythology I can understand why he was so excited about the novel, even to the point of shaking.
That elder’s reaction to the book is typical. Most elders I know consider speculation beyond the WT pages to be Hearsay. Only the higher ups can openly say they read such things, such as Samuel Herd. I’ve mentioned a few speculative aspects from the book to different elders and they all look at me with contempt. I’ve only mentioned the concepts, I never mentioned the source. It’s kind of sad, JW’s aren’t allowed to ponder or speculate. I’ve learned over the years not to mention that book unless someone brings it up first.
I hate to ruin the conspiracy about the original author but she is no spirit medium. Rutherford or whoever wrote the forward made a false assumption about the source of her inspiration. She may have been compelled to write it after listening to music but she never mentions in her appendix/notes section that Hesperus made her do it. Maybe George Lucas was inspired by a demon to create the Starwars saga. I mean it has holy spirit force, along with good and bad guys with supernatural powers. Starwars could have come from Satan because it's so successful. Look how many years they've stretched the story. I mean there's three more due to come out.
JG Smith, aka Ann Eliza Smith, was well versed in the scriptures. The St. Albans, Vermont, historical society has records stating a period where she taught Sunday school. Her main hobby was researching ancient traditions and myths of other cultures, just like LivingtheDream did with Greek and Roman mythology. She didn’t limit her ancient history reading to that of the bible. If you read her first written work you’ll find that the information in Seola is just from her imagination. Her first work is called, From Dawn to Sunrise – A review, historical and philosophical of the religious ideas of mankind.

Did they say why they needed a new version? They had to have explained a few comparisons between the two.
I guess we're going to have to re-read both of them together to find out the differences.

Special Meeting?
by Bob_NC inwhat "special meeting" is going on this weekend?
or it may be several weekends?
not the annual meeting that everyone is pumped up about, but a "special meeting" that i heard an elder say he is attending this weekend.
-
Acluetofindtheuser
The elders are going down to the assembly halls to be prepared for the massive attendance during the annual meeting. That's all I was told about this special meeting this weekend. There's probably more he's not telling me. I also heard that some kingdom halls will be getting streaming video of the annual meeting next Saturday.

The true meaning of "Jehovah" and the "overlapping generation" REVEALED!
by slimboyfat inthere has been some renewed interest in the meaning of the name jehovah on the forum in recent weeks.
combined with the ongoing discussion about the new "overlapping generation" teaching, speculation among the friends and among the ex-friends has been reaching something of a frenzy.
so it's perhaps appropriate that a little more should be revealed now about the meaning behind some of the perplexing events that have been taking place.

That's a long tunnel.
Do they figure there's going to be some sort of future fallout above ground or is it just a way to shuttle VIP's to and from Washington?
A long time ago I heard about Dwight Eisenhower being sworn in on the NWT. I thought that was strange. A president converted to a JW. Maybe you're right on all these things. What do we need to do to blow their cover and get media attention?

That's an interesting conspiracy. The tunnel to Washington convinced me it was all a farce.
If they join the UN again will they be forced to wander another 40 years up to the year 2074?
Isaac Newton's end of world date happens to be 2060. To be honest, I think something interesting will happen in the fall of next year.
