Hey Data-dog. Since you're good at identifying pareidolia images in the WT magazines I want to know if you see the same image as I do in another watchtower magazine. My friends say they can barely see it but you might have an eye for it.

The Mormons are ready for the Armageddon event. The Church even has special stores that sell emergency supplies. After learning about Guy Pierce's former affiliation with the Mormons and the adoption of Family Worship Night I wonder why Armageddon preparedness wasn't hightlighted more. They did get the publishers of the congregations to fill out disaster contact forms. They also recomended getting emergency supplies to last 3 days. This idea became realistic due to natural disasters already happening around the world.

The writing department is probably just going through the motions. They believe what they're supposed to believe. Nothing new can be presented because any writer that deviates from the norm would be accused of “pushing ahead of Jehovah’s organization.” They are in a catch 22 situation.
If any big revelations are to come, it will be from someone on the outside. The Jewish religious leaders assumed the messiah would have come from high minded ones in Jerusalem. Instead, Jesus came from a poor unimportant family in Nazareth. God usually does the opposite to test the motive of the current leadership. If they are in it for power, prestige and popularity then they will hate the lowly prophet that pops up. This has happened before, it will happen again.
god (yhwh) has always "come down" and spoke to man before he intervene in humanity.. i know things got changed up with the start of christianity and the congregation ( book of acts), but putting the fds theory aside, wouldnt you think he would speak out to someone to take the lead spreading a message before armaggedon strike?.

If they ever uttered them to Elders or higher ups they'd be charged with apostasy. I've had some crazy ideas come to me in the past about potential scenarios that could happen in the future. since i was a very young boy (+/- 10 years old) i had thoughts when revelation 18:2 was studiyed at our kingdom hall.. babylon the great was for me new york.
the center of the world, where all cultures are comming together.. next step for me, was that new york was the center of the universe for our jehovah's witness religion.. so i was connecting babylon the great with our own religion.. now with all the topics about the connexion between the watchtower corporations with investment billions, political influance, history cleaning and rebranding their business i could imagine when the society is going down, many corporations and politicians will say "shame, shame, babylon the great has fallen...".

well, i have been pondering something for quite some time.
i have been trying to figure out how explain the recent and huge doctrinal shifts of the wtbts since the 2012 annual meeting, and the accompanying modernizing of the jw official website.
It's all about rights. JJ Abrams couldn't have pullled it off without the approval of those in charge of the rights of the Star Trek franchise. An older GB member has to grant rights to the newer GB members. Any ideas from new members has to be approved from the older so it can be justified as right. Or they just vote on it and hope God plays a role in the voting outcome. You don't want things left to chance.

I had some similar thoughts along those lines. Bethel headquarters is/was in Brooklyn, the United Nations headquarters is in Manhattan and the city of Babylon is about 20 miles west, on Long Island.
Maybe there's more to the WT mass Exodus out of Brooklyn.

many jws on my facebook page are clamoring to go see it believe it or not.
others are pointing out the 'inconsistencies' with watchtower doctrine.. having something visualized and plainly layed out before you is useful when dealing with unthinking persons.. do you think that seeing it will help some jws to crtitically think about things they have read and glossed over?
Some may look into reading the book of Enoch after watching the movie. I looked up details on the movie in wikipedia and it has a listing of the primary characters. One of those characters is called Samyaza. It identifies him as a fallen angel. When movie goers google that name, after they've watch it, they'll find that it's tied to the book of Enoch.
They'll wonder if it's true because Jude quoted from it.
