That sounds like the work of a psycho. You said she was even "kookie as can be" when you saw her last. I knew of one pioneer sister that's my mom's age who was beyond weird. If you think people are turned away from the strange JW message can you image the horror they fell when it's one of these crazy ladies at their door.

Why Does It Seem That Black People Are Always Being Shot By The Police?
by minimus inthere is either a conspiracy against blacks in this country and police are out to get them or it’s that they are getting caught breaking the law and often times refuse to obey police authority.

Maybe these black suspects don't feel understood by non-black police arresting them. They might be more cooperative if there's a black cop present at the scene.

JW.org Focus on the Past - Have Always Wondered?
by JWTom injust curious of others thoughts.....while watching the latest round of convention videos with my pimi wife it was highlighted again in the content how much the wt org.
has always focused on the past (in my opinion).
many of the historical events that are highlighted as significant are from 100+ years ago in some cases.

There are no current GB prophets in JW land that can decipher the cryptic future prophecies of the bible. Therefore, all the imagined stuff of the past given to us by Russell, Rutherford, Franz and Freddie is the only content they have to work with.
How will Armageddon really play out?
How will Paradise really be restored to the earth?
How will the aging process be reversed after Paradise is restored?
How will the good dead people come out of the ground after Paradise is restored?
Nobody knows!

Jesus on the stake
by dothemath ini sat in recently with some relatives for the sunday meeting.
the talk was given by a bethel speaker, who at one point quoted john 20:25.
“but he said to them: “unless i see in his hands the print of the nails and stick my finger into the print of the nails and stick my hand into his side, i will never believe it.”.

Good observation dothemath.
After being pimo for a while now I am convinced that Jesus was nailed to a "T" shaped device instead of a plain upright pole. There is more historical and biblical evidence against the singe upright pole theory. The original WT leadership probably thought there was no harm in demonizing the cross but it helped them re brand their own form of Christianity. The current leadership will fight tooth and nail to support their new light doctrine of the upright pole belief. It makes them feel set apart from wicked Christendom. Sadly this attitude will cause them to be blind to many other bible truths because it doesn't fit in with solidified old WT doctrines.

Prophesy from a JW (and others perspective). What purpose is there in trying to interpretate some of the stuff that you don't understand??
by RubaDub inthis is not a jw-bashing thing, but it always seemed odd to me that the "excuse" when things go wrong is that "we have to wait and see how the prophesy is fulfilled" or some other wording.. my question has always been, then what is the purpose of the prophesy if you don't understand it until after the fact?
isn't that like having a weather forecast but being told that we don't really know what the weather will be until the next day?.
i'm sure some of the intelligent people here can guide me but in all honesty, i never understood that..

"What happened to that thing about God doing nothing without "giving advance notice to His servants, the prophets"?"
The society can't figure out those pesky difficult prophecies, thereby usually demoting them to symbolic representations. They are locked out of understanding the deep things of the bible and it shows. Since so many of their interpretations failed then they can't be his prophet.

How Would You React if a Snake Started Talking to You?
by RubaDub injust an odd thought i guess.
i saw a large snake in the back of my house the other day and it went on its merry way.
i just asked myself, what if the snake turned around and wanted to have a philosophical discussion on life, the universe or the origin of creation and then began to ask me questions?

I'd ask it if it was part parrot because its voice sounds silly.

All the congregations received a special document entitled "Productive Use of Time" from the branch. A digital copy of this was sent to all the publishers. Under the section, "Encourage one another" there were instructions to reach out to inactive witnesses. This is what it exactly says,
"Send an upbuilding message to an inactive relative or friend"
It didn't say you could send an upbuilding message to a disfellowshipped relative or friend. If you want to make your sister mad you could tell her she violated the organization's rules if you are disfellowshipped Brainfloss.
Another thing they put in that category was to "Get better acquainted with coworkers". This is kind of strange because it violates their "bad association spoils useful habits" and not to be friends of the world. Their letting some things slide.

Active JW's - Do you see a CONTRADICTION here?
by The Fall Guy inthe bible says this - acts 17:11 “...for they [the beroeans] accepted the word with the greatest eagerness of mind, carefully examining the scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.”.
km 9/07 p. 3 question box - does “the faithful and discreet slave” endorse independent groups of witnesses who meet together to engage in scriptural research...?.
and yet, in various parts of the world, a few associates of our organization have formed groups to do independent research on bible-related subjects... some have pursued an independent group study...so as to analyze the accuracy* of the new world translation... for those who wish to do extra bible study and research, we recommend that they explore insight on the scriptures, “all scripture is inspired of god and beneficial,” and our other publications...” .

There are 1000's of sects of Christianity. Nothing proves that WT is God's chosen channel. Supernatural events showed God was backing Moses. Supernatural events showed God was backing Jesus. No supernatural events backed any christian sect, except with the first apostles. That means God doesn't care which sect you follow as long as you follow the basic tenets of the faith with Jesus as the primary leader, second to his father. Jesus said, "where there are two or more, I am with you".
There are so many new things I have learned by reading the bible without WT crutches. I know if I speak any new found understanding to those in the hall I will be DF'd for apostasy. It reminds me of what happened to Galileo when he wanted to tell the world the earth revolved around the sun, not the other way around. The church leaders accused Galileo of heresy because of their ignorance of the bible. He was not allowed to speak of that scientific truth again and he was put under house arrest for the rest of his life. That my friends is when a church has reached its evil oppressive state. The WT and many other sects are in the same boat because they have obstructed the holy spirit.

Keeping everyone on the hook
by hoser ini’ve always noticed that the local jw leaders like to give as little notice as possible for local meetings and expect you to drop everything and rearrange your life to fit their agenda in.
i’ve noticed this more during the pandemic.
we are not given the codes and time of memorial until a couple hours before meeting.

They know there are moles within a number of congregations throughout the US. When they first used zoom a link was sent out to all the publishers. Everything seemed fine for the first week. Then on the next Saturday night they sent out a new link saying not to share it with anyone outside the congregation. Then a few days before the Sunday talk prior to the memorial they said there will be a new link, a password and a need to make sure your zoom name is one recognized by the congregation. What that last item meant was that you had to be on zoom 30 minutes before the meeting and the host of the zoom meeting would let you in once he recognized your name. No unrecognized names would be allowed into any of the meetings. The public talk is no longer for the public.
