But Elders have been practicing going to other congregations for years with the outgoing Public talks. They could do the change over anytime.

This generation will by now means pass away..."
by Jewel ini haven't been to a meeting (other than some cousins' weddings) for well over twenty years.
i've always wondered what the fds was going to do with the "generations" thing once pretty much everybody who had been alive in 1914 is gone.
i get that they've come up with some "new light" about this topic, but when i ask my mom (who's still in) i only get "well, the new understanding is complicated...".

Maybe you’re on to something ‘Think About It’ when you said this:
“The WTS should have changed their stance and agreed with the secular scholars that Jerusalem was destroyed in 587 BCE. Then they could have just claimed the Gentile Times ended in 1934. They could have built some type of Theology around Hilter and his Nazi Party coming to power around then. Jesus being invisably present with war in heaven, and Satan being cast down and starting WWII by 1939. They could have stuck with the "this generation" teaching and rode it out until 2034.”
A new kind of trouble was in the skies around World War II. The Foo Fighter phenomena made its appearance in WWII. Both Nazi and Allied pilots were being pursued by balls of fire travelling at incredible speeds. There were so many reports of these sightings pilots were beginning to get ticked off by their pesky presence.
“ In a mission debriefing on the evening November 27, 1944, Fritz Ringwald, the unit's S-2 Intelligence Officer, stated that Don Meiers and Ed Schleuter had sighted a red ball of fire that appeared to chase them through a variety of high-speed maneuvers. Fritz said that Don was extremely agitated and had a copy of the comic strip [Smokey Sover] tucked in his back pocket. He pulled it out and slammed it down on Fritz's desk and said, "... it was another one of those fuckin' foo fighters!" and stormed out of the debriefing room.”
“The first sightings occurred in November 1944, when pilots flying over Germany by night reported seeing fast-moving round glowing objects following their aircraft. The objects were variously described as fiery, and glowing red, white, or orange. Some pilots described them as resembling Christmas tree lights and reported that they seemed to toy with the aircraft, making wild turns before simply vanishing. Pilots and aircrew reported that the objects flew formation with their aircraft and behaved as if under intelligent control, but never displayed hostile behavior. However, they could not be outmaneuvered or shot down. The phenomenon was so widespread that the lights earned a name - in the European Theater of Operations they were often called "kraut fireballs" but for the most part called "foo-fighters". The military took the sightings seriously, suspecting that the mysterious sightings might be secret German weapons, but further investigation revealed that German and Japanese pilots had reported similar sightings.”

That gravestone somehow reminds me of the movie Stargate.
Maybe the creators of that movie were inspired by Russell's pyramid?
Is it a coincidence that the main star of that movie was Kurt Russell?

The January 2013 Public edition of the Watchtower mentions December 21, 2012 on page 4.
The opening words read, “How do you feel about December 21, 2012, the date of the Maya calendar that many have been saying would bring worldwide change?...Was it just another incorrect prediction for the end of the world?”
On page 8 they have an article with the title, “Have Jehovah’s Witnesses given incorrect dates for the end?” Here are the highlights that reflect their errors in predictions:
1. We agree with the sentiments of longtime Witness A. H. Macmillan, who said: “I learned that we should admit our mistakes and continue searching God’s Word for more enlightenment.”
2. Likewise, we have had some wrong expectations about the end. But we are more concerned with obeying Jesus and saving lives than with avoiding criticism.
I wonder what kind of enlightenment they should be seeking from the Bible to get better answers. Maybe the old ways aren’t working and something new needs to be tried. They have been making big changes leading up to a virtual only magazine along with modified meeting times I wonder what big change is next? Closure of Kingdom Halls and Webcasts straight from bethel pumped right into your home?

Whitney Heichel's body found on Larch Mt., man charged in murder
by trujw invery sad as was said by a poster earlier our shared one time faith makes it seem as if you knew her.
rip.

It is so sad to hear she was murdered. I really want to know why he needed to take her life. Was he a former boyfriend?
I remember hearing a talk at the KH where an elder said Jehovah would not interfere with human affairs unless it was directly related to his outworking purpose.

It's an experiment turned awfully bad.
I just found Joseph Smith's missing golden plates. I found them under KS's house.

Thanks for sharing your views King Solomon. Your comments are noted. However, I still stand by what I said.
Some of us are still believers who enjoy an occasional trip down to the pub.

A General informs his commanders his intent to invade well in advance before an operation. The plan was to remove the spirit, or a portion of it, to cause an effect. The event changed the rules of the game.
You make some interesting points about a pre-flood anarchy verses post-flood civil law being instituted.
If it was God’s intent just to wipe out wicked mankind he should have just used one angel to do the job. He went well out of his way to bring about the flood event. I believe his main goal was to change the atmosphere surrounding earth. The rainbow, fermentation and a gradual life span reduction were a result of a new atmosphere.

What did God accomplish with the Flood?
He ruined what was good.
Genesis 1:31 - "it was very good." Genesis 6:13 - "I will destroy them with the earth." or "I will wipe them out along with the earth." and the NWT reads "I am bringing them to ruin together with the earth."
God's intent was to change the nature of the planet. Long living corrupt human beings were making a whole mess out of the situation. Idle hands are the devil's workshop, as the saying goes. People were living too long and boredom made us do the unimaginable.

So the Governing Body alone is now the Faithful and Discreet Slave?
by garyneal ini'm just catching up on the latest buzz here and it appears that there is a lot of buzz on the 'new light' coming from the watchtower concerning the governing body and the faithful and discreet slave.
if true, i can really use this to trick my wife and in-laws (who are coming in this weekend) to contradict the new light.. at first i was going to say that this can answer moshe's question regarding who really is the fds but i understand that the change simply means when the body meets on doctrinal matters is when they are collectively the fds.
is that correct?.

What is interesting about that comment 'justsaying' is that it shows Satan was allowed to corrupt the first Governing Body in the first century through a hostile takeover by Rome. It makes you wonder if he's going to make another attempt with the current one when Babylon the Great falls. Is the eighth king going to regulate religion when the time is right? With a global community comes a global governance in order to keep peace.
The world currently has bodies such as the World Trade Organization to settle trading disputes between nations and the World Health Organization is present to monitor disease outbreaks throughout the world. There are other United Nation bodies that preside over critical matters that try to keep global peace.
The world now needs a World Financial Organization to bring market stability to a fragile system always on the brink. The G8 can't seem to cut it.
The last one to come will be some World Religious Organization - A religious governing body that regulates religions so there is continued peace throughout the world. Organizations such as Freedom from Religion foundation is paving the way to pacify religious customs that interfere with human rights.
