I find that the talk about the end is a lot more than it was 10 years ago...but now that you mention it my Mom did contact me back in 09 and said it was urgent I come back to the truth, the end is so close, there is new light!!

Have you noticed that the Watchtower is not emphasizing how close the end is as much?
by stuckinamovement inmaybe i am off base, but it seems that the last year or so hasn't had the standard retoric about how "imminent, close, or soon" the end will be.
it seems as if the focus is now on obeying the governing body.
have you noticed this?.

Two more youths get kicked out of the organization, also kicked out of their house.
by JonathanH inso i used to work with these two younger gentlemen back when i washed windows for a local elder's company.
good kids, sons of an elder, responsible and hardworking.
i ran into him the other day briefly and he said him and his younger brother moved in together (they are about 19, and 18, maybe 20, and 18), and i was surprised.

I can't believe they got DFed for that...me and my "witness" friends did a lot worse stuff when we were younger, some baptized, some not...but we were good about not getting caught...

The End?
by lostandconfused ingrowing up i remember always hearing, "the end will come when the preaching work is finished?".
then it was, "the end will come when there are no more annointed on earth".
now i hear it's when the "generation is gone" but oh wait...there's now new light about an "overlapping of 2 generations??".

Thanks for your responses. By the way, I was raised a JW, never baptized...I used to post here under another name but changed it due to sneaky people
Going to the meetings growing up it didn't really seem like you heard about "the end" very much, but lately it seems like every single watchtower article and sunday talk, all you hear is "the end, the end, the end". "The end is close because wars are so bad, famine is so bad, and earthquakes are so bad"...haven't these things always been around? It drives me crazy, if I hear another thing about the end, or how satan is controlling everything, I am going to stab myself in the eye!!
I mean, if JWs are so sure that they have the truth, why do they have to anazlyze dates so much??? Why can't they just live their lives and serve God? You can't even go to a meeting and learn anything about the bible, because all you hear is "the end, the end, the end...."
By the way some of you might ask why I go to meetings, in short, I'm forced to...but that's all I'll say about my situatuion right now...

I've tried asking JWs about this but they don't even seem sure themselves when the end will come, because the story keeps changing!!
So my question is, when and how was this new light introduced? And also does the "new light" about Daniel's Prophecy have anything to do with it, or is that separate?

So why
by bushido8000 init has become very apparent to me very quickly that this forum is dominated by ex-jws.
i have many questions and topics to present but i first want to know who i am presenting these questions and topics to so i have 2 questions that i would like as many of yall to answer as possible.. .
question 1: did you leave the organization out of the blue or were you first disfellowshipped?.

I was born in, never got baptized (thank goodness)...I grew up and saw all the gossip and hypocrisy...it turned me off starting from when I was a teen...my childhood killed me, I wasn't allowed to go to public school or talk to "wordly" friends...it made me a very rebellious teen...I feel like I never got a childhood...I don't want my kids to grow up like that...I still feel like it's held me back in the education department, I'm just now going back to school... and I suffer from severe anxiety.

As a JW - Did you See Meetings Continue in Spite of Medical Emergencies?
by flipper ini was talking the other day with a fellow board member about medical emergencies occuring at meetings and how we both agreed that we ( while jw's ) had never seen a meeting stop or be cancelled due to medical emergencies experienced by a fellow jw.
the wt society trains jw' s to lose their authentic human feelings or any empathy towards others physical or emotional sufferings many times.
so many times at meetings , in spite of someone suffering a serious medical emergency it was " the show must go on " type of attitude displayed by congregation elders.. my first experience at seeing a medical emergency at the kingdom hall was an older sister who had an epileptic attack.

SCARY(actually hilarious) JW Urban Legends (smurf content)

i remember a story running rampant when i was in my pre-teenage years that went a little something like this:.
word on the street was that a young child went to the circuit assembly with his parents.

hahahaha, these stories are hilarious...
Me and the kids in the hall used to tell all these stories when we were younger. My favorite was about the brother who bought a used tie at goodwill and things started acting funny in his house. He assumed it was the tie that was demonized so he threw it out...the next morning the tie was hanging in his closet!! He cut it into pieces and buried it in his back yard, and the next day it was back in his closet! LOL!! I also remember stories about talking cats and dogs out in service, at demonized houses.
I was always so terrifed of these demons when I was younger...I would be scared to go to the bathroom because I thought demons would come out of the toilet...lol...well I have yet to have a demon experience...
