I was going to partake this year but I didn't get to attend the memorial. After reading the bible and realizing I have the heavenly hope I began to doubt JW's as having the truth. The insomnia due to researching the Society and stimulants I took to stay awake led to a mental breakdown and I was hospitalized. So even if I had remained in the borg as a fader & started to partake they would have dismissed me as mentally imbalanced like the QFR suggests.

Hey there Unky!!! I've missed chatting with you this week.
You've given your boys a wonderful opportunity. There is still hope for your wife & daughter. I hope your daughter awakens while still young.
Even though JW's will never admit it but they lost a force for good and being among ego tripping elders they notice your absence.
I'm glad you've crossed over to the other side. Isn't life grand!!! -

When I was at Brooklyn i use to clean the pharmacy & the suicide watch room. Seeing the psychiatric meds made me open to the idea of taking meds if needed because I felt less ashamed after seeing it on the shelves at Bethel. I was told they had 2 suicide rooms in the new infirmary at Brooklyn but I never confirmed it. If everything is wonderful at Bethel why this need or why have psychologistson staff?
I had friends who had to leave their missionary assignment early due to the wife's PTSD. Her's issued due to living thru civil unrest in Central American country before becoming a JW. My husband & I encouraged the couple to make known her experience in that country while attending Gilead. She was afraid of being sent back there but they were also scared to speak up fearing it would reflect badly with the the br's if they made a request not to be sent somewhere. They ended up being assigned to a neighboring country so they thought she would be fine. They were wrong, the countries were very similar and it triggered horrific memories. She was ashamed to admit she needed help or to take meds. They only spoke up after another missionary informed them she was on anti-depressants and that there was nothing to be ashamed of as many missionaries are in need of psychiatric meds due to the stress. -

My father's funeral
by jwfacts inlast week i attended my father's funeral in hobart.
i was the first time i have been in a kingdom hall in several years, and many years since i had attended the hall of my childhood, but felt like it was just yesterday.
the funeral talk was quite a departure from normal, so worth writing about.

Again I'm sorry for your loss.
I feel sorry for your mom.
Did your wife & child go with you? From your writing it seems like they didn't. If so how were they treated?

New Ex-JW Documentary To Be Released
by discreetslave inabout filmtruth be told is a feature length documentary that explores the lives of several individuals raised in the jehovahs witnesses religion.
the title of the film refers to the tendency by jehovahs witnesses to regard their beliefs exclusively as the truth.. the documentary is not an indictment of religion but rather a retrospective.
in a series of informal interviews, former jehovahs witnesses discuss life experiences within the organization including the impact the religion had on their childhood and family, schooling, adolescence, and approaches to dating and marriage.

I'm in support of every project put out to show our stories in a fair light .
I understand your viewpoint Mad so does the director. He has successfully produced other films. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2042405/bio so he already has some recognition outside our community and that helps get our stories out.
Who knows he could be a resource for the other films. It's us vs a corporation not in competition with each other.

does your religion affect your income?by mari cockerell, ktxs newsabilene, texas -- the pew forum on religion and public life recently put out the results of a survey on wealth and religion in the united states.. you may be surprised to learn which religious groups in this country have the most and the least wealthy members.an infographic produced by the folks at www.good.is breaks down information gathered by the pew forum on religion and wealth.
it maps out distribution of income for the 14 major religious groups in this country, charting those whose income is less than $30,000 a year all the way up to $100,000+.. what they found is interesting.the religions whose members earn the most money are jews and hindus.
