Forbidden Pleasures ......

this morning on the way to work, i burst into song.

not just any song ... but the heretofore forbidden "star spangled banner".

i just felt like singing and i wanted to sing something challenging and it seemed like the perfect choice.

I registered to vote in the elections for next year. Also, I bought a lottery ticket for fun. I didn't even know how to scratch it off, and it took forever to decide which one to buy. It was fun. (Even though I didn't win anything!)

Holiday Crafts

i've noticed that this is the first holiday season for many here on the board.

that means there's gonna be some pretty sad xmas trees this year .

so my question is does anyone have any great holiday craft ideas????

Since I work at a Arts and Crafts gallery, I see crafts all the time. One of our best sellers, is cinnamon stick santa ornaments.

1. Paint a white beard on on one end of the cinnamon stick.

2. Add eyes with paint.

3. Glue a festive ribbon behind the stick in the shape of a loop to hang.

You could also do this with white paint all over and make it into a snowman.

There are all kinds of ideas in craft store magazines, or you might want to check out your local library. Also, this time of year, there are craft shows. Check your local newspapers.

Do something about your life.............

it seems that no matter how successful i am in life (family, career, social, money, etc...) it doesn't matter to my mother......her comment is always something like "when are you going to do something about the truth".

i get so agrivated that i want to scream!!

i have explained to her that i no longer believe the governing body to be directed by god - she knows i don't believe it is the truth any longer - yet every few months she says "when are you going to do something about your life" - it's like she's talking to a recovering drug addict just coming out of rehab with no job and nowhere to live.....do something about your life..........she just doesn't get it.

I know how you feel. My dad is the only one in our family that is still a JW. He used to pressure me to come to the meetings. We only go once a year to the memorial. I dread it each time it comes up. He is getting better. But I know how frustrating and how blind parents can be, when it comes to the "truth." Just wanted to let you know you are not alone.

i've been out of work since 10/1 because of an operation i had, and tomorrow will be my first day back.

i really don't wanna go back.

i thought i might have won the lottery, but i only hallunicated while on the prescription pain med's of winning.

I can relate to all of you. I am dreading to go to work each time I am scheduled. I have had this same job for almost 10 years. On my 10th anniversary, I plan to quit and do something different that I like. (Is there a job for watching TV, all day?) I just started a water aerobics class and that has helped with the depression. Yes, I am dreaming of better days, also.
