@mrsjones5: LOL It's an idiom I made up to describe myself. A JW who wants/needs to remain active (repporting) but is "disconnected" from many teachings and beliefs coming from the GB.

How Many on JWNet are still JWs?
by RayPublisher ini've been wondering about this for some time.
if there are 60,000+ registered users on here, what percentage are actual non-dfed or non-daed witnesses?
if it was 1/3, that would be over 20,000 active/inactive witnesses that post and read these pages- and that's huge.

This is a very interesting topic. I am an active freelance JW. I ask the administration to send this question to every user and tell us the results. Is it possible?

@MrMonroe, I know the existence of Franz's book, I am reading it actually. In fact, I told my elders I was doing it, and that it was great (LOL imagine that! sometimes I amaze myself).
@St George of England, I do not trust elders, not any more after my experience. And I am happy to see that it was Mad who started the beard topic. It was very funny, but it was not discussed beards INSIDE the congregation among active members. I'll do it soon, I must prepare the material.

Thank you all for your comments. I cannot express the joy I feel reading them. I'll try to contact some of you, if you are active JWs, please send me a private message.
Also I wanted to discuss the beard topic, it is a very hot issue in some places. Tell me, please, if it has already been discussed or should I start a new topic.

@NewChapter, thank you for your warnings, I have already thought about that. Anyway, the elders already know what I posted here. I cannot imaging anyone from my environment identifying me in this forum, that's too complicated for their brains.

Thank you all again for your comments.
@cantleave, I sent you a private message, I won't post personal details online.
@Franklin Massey, The list is quite long. I would say 607bce (and then 1914), GB is directed by God, Jesus is Michael the archangel, Jesus wasn't put to death in a Cross, etc... But it is not only because of the doctrines or teachings, also I have been disappointed how things are managed (too much gossip, stupid prohibitions, clothing, self-censorship, lack of culture or academic background...). I already said the elders know what I think, I told them I will do my way, and they told me when I arrive to the new congregation: "You are welcome in our congregation, you must study yourself and clarify your doubts, a lot of brothers have, we cannot carry a bible study with you, and please don't spread your opions among the congregation". That's all.

Being a feminist in the JW religion
by Chemical Emotions init essentially makes me feel like i am an evil, immoral, selfish imdividual who god hates (even though "evil" is really a religious term, and i am not religious, even though i don't do terrible things, even though i care about others so much that i am remaining a jw mainly for other people).
i hate not being able to express my feelings, not just about supposed gender roles, but about many aspects of life.
i think i am fair and accepting about both sexes, and all sexual orientations, and about many other things, such as a person's religion or the lack thereof.. and yet in this religion it is veiwed as a bad thing, a sin, to accept or even tolerate these things without prejudice.

I always quote the exemples of Deborah (Judges 4) who was a judge and an authority in ancient Israel and Phoebe (Romans 16:1) minister at the local congregation in Cenchreae (same greek word -diakonos- rendered Ministerial Servant in 1 Timothy 3:8)
Then, I am sad reading Paul in 1 Corinthians 14:34-35:
34. let the women keep silent in the congregations, for it is not permitted for them to speak, but let them be in subjection, even as the Law says. 35 If, then, they want to learn something, let them question their own husbands at home, for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in a congregation.
I have difficulties to reconcile those scriptures.

I must say that I am impressed by your welcome, I posted one hour ago and there are already 6 messages. Thank you all.
@MrFreeze, Elders know what my thoughts are, they told me that having doubts is quite normal, one elder even told me that he didn't belive toasting was pagan! That made me think how hypocritical some people are, because in case he has to defend the orthodox position from the atrium he would do so.
@Ding, The elders told me not to talk with other members about my "doubts".
@leavingwt, I cannot imagine my life outside the WT. I've been in my whole life. Anyway, family and "friends" would be the answer.

Hello,
It is a pleasure to read some of the topics posted in this forum. Finally I decided to register. I have now the certainty that when I am sitting down at the KH listening to teachings I do not accept I am not alone in this world, maybe thousands feel the same way. We all know the fear of freedom of speech and the self-censorship that exist in our community. Being an active JW but "disconnected" from the worship to the GB can be a challenge, but still possible. I hope I will know wonderful people around, as I already did in my area, feel free to send me a private message if you want to contact me and share experiences, specially those experiencing the same situation.
