Welcome to the board,
For me I really wanted to believe in something so I went to other churches and researched for about two years then became an atheist.
do the majority of exjws retain a christian faith after leaving the borg?
does the majority of exjws continue studying the bible on their own or join a new christian group that's less rigid than the jws?
or does the majority say to hell with christianity?.

on the subject of prayer: this is addressed to the more atheistic or agnostic ones amongst us.. now, all those years i prayed really hard when times were tough, and then things worked out.
i now believe it was my own hard work that gave the solutions.
prayer was helpful in that i felt i had help.
My mother told me about two years ago to pray to God and he would show me that the witnesses had the "truth". Obviously He answered me by making me do two years worth of research and turning me into an atheist!
hello all,.
just letting you know that the date for the new hampshire support group has changed from june 9th to june 16th.

Hello all,
Just letting you know that the date for the New Hampshire Support group has changed from June 9th to June 16th. Sorry about any inconveniences.
i want to share a perspective, with everyone that comes here to read, for i feel it will take some of us in a new direction.
perhaps it will allow for some creative thinking and interesting discussion or maybe it simply wont go anywhere.
it does not really matter either way, for there are subjects which can only be speculated on and thoughts which can only be shared.
I agree 100% dark clouds. Great post. Uncle Onion...there are some great books out there that talk about whether or not Jesus was a real person and if he was whether or not his teachings and so called "miracles" really came about. I really suggest reading "The Jesus Mysteries".
for a long time i have thought about yahweh, and the kind of deity that he was.
leader, savior, protector of the israelites, quick to strike down anyone who dared oppose him.
his compassion seemed to be masked beneath his jealous nature, but he had his reason and it was for "spiritual cleanliness".
Great post!! I like the conclusions you came to. I too have been wanting to do this for quite some time just haven't had the time yet. I look forward to your future posts on this subject.
i've been contacted by someone who is in a pretty desperate battle for custody with their jw ex.. this person needs advice from anyone who has been in this situation and managed to win, especially.
information about dealing with appelate courts and how to select competant legal counsel.. this is a time sensitive situation and i just don't have the information/experience necessary to help this person.. yet they've turned to me for help, so i have to avail upon all of you now to give any kind assistance.
that you can.. if you are willing to correspond with this person, please let me know here, or e mail me and i will .
Freeminds.org also has the child custody book that the lawyer might like to get a look at. The children and parents are coached extensively on answers they need to give in court. I think that the lawyer would find it very helpful.
i recently finished reading the bible unearthed: archaeology's new vision of ancient israel and the origin of its sacred texts by israel finkelstein and neil asher silberman.
here is part of a review that drew my attention to the book:.
the book reaches its conclusions from a huge array of archaeological evidence of different kinds, some quite clever, such as the analysis of camel bones; others representing new trends in field archaeology, such as settlement surveys.
I've been looking for this book for about six months now and haven't been able to find it in any of the local book stores. I'll probably have to get it online. Thanks for the excerpts.
something to read,.
i just found a site where david yoder describes the amish culture in great detail.
it is fascinating to get an inside view of their world.
Thank you for posting this link. I'm about half way through and the stuff in this book is interesting. So many similarities and also many things I never realized.
