I don't care how much one can disagree with the JWs --they are kind and peaceful -- and I HATE this mob attitude! It was painful to watch... Made me mad as hell!

No... not really. But I go to birthday parties, or partake in a meal whether Thanksgiving, Christmas, or other. But for myself, no.

Born Roman Catholic, but my parents converted when I was 6. I got baptized at 13 (at the age of mature reason), and was a faithful until I hit 47. It was my deep personal study that made me question the character of God, and I came to the same conclusion than Richard Dawkins, that " The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.”
From there I went on to studying what evolution REALLY said, and I'm now an atheist, with still some sense of spirituality -- that I credit nature for. -

The Watchtower's Delicate Mastery Of Deception
by metatron inyou gotta admire the skill manifest in the watchtower's deception skills.
don't kid yourself, even the gestapo, in internal documents found after the war, found the magazines to be well crafted in the field of propaganda.. the latest deceptions?
well, there's the nov. awake magazine with its cover asking, "is belief in a creator reasonable".

Armaggeddon may occur invisibly
by mankkeli inat the end of today's meeting, some over-righteous friends were discussing the various possibilities of armaggeddon occuring invisibly, considering the explanation given within the "parousia" domain on the invisible presence of christ in 1914. they reffered to some articles which i am presently looking through.. .
while he was sitting upon the mount of olives, the disciples approached him privately, saying: tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your presence [pa?rou?sia, greek] and of the conclusion of the system of things?.
"in our day, then, what is meant by the biblical expression the presence of our lord jesus christ?

The organisations love failed! (1 Corinthians 13:8)
by TimothyT intoday, a sister in my congregation told me that she could never abandon me because i have been disfellowshipped.
when she told me that she feels such a powerful driving force telling her she cannot leave me, it really made feel very warm and very close to her.
when i told my dad, he said to me that the force compelling her is the most powerful force in the universe: love!

Why So Many Young People Are Leaving The Watchtower
by Jeremy C ini have been giving a lot of thought to the young people who are leaving the watchtower organization in recent years.
last night, i was reading the thread posted by jwfacts a while back in which he provided some statistics and graphs showing the rapidly declining growth in the watchtower.
one factor that was discussed at length was the high number of young people who do not stay in the organization.

Great post. Well articulated.
I was brought up a JW, and snapped out of it at 47! LOL! I know.... now I'm a happy and calm Atheist.
My concern and beef is with the demonizing of knowledge and general culture. It's not surprising that the first punished sin, and almighty taboo was reaching for a tree of "Knowledge"...

Floyd Kite's "Enduring the Tests Within God's Organization" (1980)

Kite says " The number one test is this: will I be loyal to the organization God is using in spite of the people that are in it? That’s a big test. "
I ask a similar question; " will I be loyal to the Nazi organization in spite of the people that are in it?"
Ironically, he's talking about those who couldn't stand the lies and deception, like Ray Franz... whom they framed, then slandered.

It's an amazing feat to make circular thinking seem like logic in progress, and here we have a good example of that.
I am now an atheist, so my comment reflects this conclusion.
The question here is plainly about the character of God. Is he good, or bad (if he exists)?
Jehovah himself is portrayed throughout the Bible as a "Heavenly Father,” and as such, he has the OBLIGATION to look out for his children/creation. The sheer idea of "undeserved kindness" is preposterous. Any parent knows that. Having children COMPELS us to love and protect them. Parents serve their kids -- not the other way around.
Hence, this talk shows a very dark side of the supposed creator -- yet it all makes sense. Indeed, HE is the one that accepted Satan’s duel, and above all, HE is the one that empowered him, to the point of making him the ‘god of this system!’
Character-wise, not much has to be added to a God that shreds 42 ‘small’ boys apart for calling a prophet “baldy”... (sounds like the kind of punishment Saddam Hussein would have ordered.) Since day one, after promising death for disobedience to the first couple, HE added pangs of pain for childbirth and cursed the soil! I call that overreacting and lying on the punishment promised. He does have a temper, doesn't he? Of course, he also encouraged slavery and even legislatated it. Nice. A human can own another human...
In short, that God appoints “traitors” with his Holy Spirit to test those who already live the difficulties of everyday life, does not shine in his honor. Thank you Daddy...
But when you have charm and humor, as in this talk, it seems people will naively eat out of your hand -- and akin to an abused child, love their daddy nonetheless.
