I don't know the whole history of this issue. So I am ill placed to judge. To understand my position is to understand I came in after much of this dispute.
So of course, I see things with a candid eye, hoping for the best. Like a kid that enters the room when the parents are still burning from a row.
At least that's the way I feel.... I don't WANT to take sides. That's the bottom line. I hope this is understood as my sincere position.
Funny thing, I just realized back on page 18 and 19 I did voice my dislike of the first meaning of AAWA. LOL! Thank Thor they changed it. -

I am one of them. I volunteer and I'm proud to be a modest supporter of AAWA. But I do respect the request to not promote here.
Hopefully, things will eventually work out.
It's true what they say about atheists, and it's also true for exJWs... it's like herding cats. The fact that we are all independant thinkers makes it difficult to accept new organizations.
It makes total sense. But we do mature... and organizations that have a common goal tend to practice more flexibility in time. It's not an easy thing, I'll grant you that.
Some hard feelings are hard to die. That's just being human. I want to believe there is no bad guy — just frustrated egos. Again, we're only human. -

why using a tablet at the platform during the meeting?
by Gorbatchov ini can't understand why the governing body aka fds has to deside about using a tablet by the speaker at the platform.. why using a tablet anyway at the platform?.
just a toy to keep the youth inside the congregation.. gorby.

I agree... the more open to the net the JWs are, the better the chances of discovering the manipulations of the WTS.
Many here have already admitted reading apostate material while at meetings! LOL! -

I don't see that it's time yet for that. I can see the flames still burning. I'm not judging — I do hope that a bridge can be made.
I really do... -

JW apologist Emeth dismisses teachings of Russell as irrelevant, uninspired and even funny.. Maybe in the future jw's will say the same about todays Governing Body?
by The Quiet One inemeth said: "russell never claimed to be a inspired prophet or without any failures or mistakes.
he was just a human as much as i and you are.
he is just a person who started a process of digging and searching for bible truths.

Yep — I'll say it again: Today's New Light is tomorrow's apostasy.

All those who dislike AAWA are not lazy. There was a rough start with AAWA and I guess now there are hard feelings on each side.
But I wouldn't dismiss all who don't like AAWA. Everyone has a place to work from, and ultimately, we have a same goal.
People here who have issues with AAWA are hard working, and have built this site with just as much concern than others.
As for me, I openly support AAWA, and I am volunteering for them as I write. I have some very dear friends there, and their goals are praiseworthy.
I prefer the name now ( Advocates for Awareness of Watchtower Abuses) , because I admit I wasn't too hot about using the word "anti"... but this is how new ideas grow and mature.
So yes, by all means help out if you wish and can.
Just one thing, respect the ones that disagree. There is no need for name calling. Also, although I am excited to work with AAWA, I rather not promote here for now.
There is such a thing as respect for the site's preferences. If those preferences change, then, I'll adapt.
All I want is peace... I hope you do too friendaroonie. -

I wonder...
by braincleaned ini wonder about why so many of us stick to the "truth" within the frame of the jehovah's witness religion.. of course, the wts has authority over our minds thru the control of information, demonizing any "worldly" knowledge that might jeopardize our faith in this entity.. thru my own experience, i understand how we can stick to this organization; because of a life's investment in serving, and the close ties of family and peers we do not wish to abandon or upset.
so we are here on sites like these, to understand the mechanisms of the cult... to try to make sense of why we should stay, or why we should leave.. the consequences are too important to take this lightly, or too swiftly.. if i may share a bit of my journey, i did not have to worry too much about the cult at first, because my main battle was based deeper than that.
after all, the root of any christian religion is in the bible itself; faith in jehovah and christ; trust in the idea that the bible is inspired by god himself.. so yes, my quest went to the base, the root of the jw faith... the bible.. since childhood, the character of jehovah was a problem for me.

SnailsPace, your comment REALLY warms the heart — and I'm sure most here feel the same. I like your screen name, because you must take your time indeed.
Don't rush into any fight with anyone... you have friends and family you don't want to upset unnecessarily.
Your quest has just begun. I am so happy for you — you'll see, you will be happy you started this journey.
A journey of honest questioning. You're in the right place. We are cheering you on.
I came out on this site just a few days ago. Maybe my story will sound familiar to you…

All my best to you! Life will seem sweeter when you are the one behind the control of your heart and mind.
Peace!

Every religion has a measure of mind control or hypnotic influence. It serves no purpose and has historically been the root of wars and hate.
Those who see its charity and good deeds have to remember that you can be non-religious and do the same.
The advantage of the latter is that it is not based on hoped recompense or the fear of punishment. On another discussion I had, some defended the usefulness of Faith and Religion. That it has it's place in our modern society.
This was my comment:
"I believe there is no good reason for any religion to exist. None. The fact that “Faith” is its cornerstone alone negates its use in reality.
At best it’s a placebo — making it dangerous if used for real problems. Reality has no use for it.Like Bertrand Russell famously said:'Well, there can’t be a practical reason for believing what isn’t true. That’s quite… at least, I rule it out as impossible. Either the thing is true, or it isn’t. If it is true, you should believe it, and if it isn’t, you shouldn’t. And if you can’t find out whether it’s true or whether it isn’t, you should suspend judgment. But you can’t… it seems to me a fundamental dishonesty and a fundamental treachery to intellectual integrity to hold a belief because you think it’s useful, and not because you think it’s true.' "
I stand behind that statement. Every religion has a measure of mind control or hypnotic influence. It serves no purpose and has historically been the root of wars and hate.
Those who see its charity and good deeds have to remember that the non-religious do the same. The advantage of the latter is that it is not based on hoped recompense or the fear of punishment. -
