by cofty inthere is a trend in modern evangelical, charismatic and "non-religious spirituality" that gets dangerously close to erotic love of jesus.. it's something that i first observed during my christian years especially in the lyrics of christian songs and sometimes during open-prayer times.
if you haven't experienced open prayer you are the lucky ones.
everybody adopts the shampoo position - elbows on knees, head in hands - and whoever is "moved by the spirit" speaks up for a while, followed by an awkward silence, followed by two people speaking up at the same time, followed by silence, and so on.. anyway back to the topic, here are a few random examples .... So easy to shock christians these days. Yet how where they when they had the political power, when the church had all the rights?
I have no empathy for the fraility of christians that forgot how their religion has tortured and killed — as far back as biblical times — even before Jesus!
They get what they deserve from us thinking people who value logic, reason, and evidence... not to forget true Justice. -

Couldn't the symbolism be more of a merge, a partnership? What started this ridiculous idea of marriage, a very sex related union?

what is the meaning and purpose of evil?.
how does it relate to the overall universe and its balance?

I think evil=bad. It's just not purposly so. Just "is"...
Let me ammend this and say that people can consciously be "evil" in that they WANT to hurt. People who do evil are people that could not care less for other's well-being.
THey may have been pushed to evil by prior evil... or somtimes a mental lack or empathy.
Evil is NECESSARILY BAD. -

Maintaining Faith In God As An Ex-JW
by pronomono inas i fade further from the jws, i'm finding it increasingly hard to maintain faith in god.
i've been exploring many alternatives from atheism, agnostic, apathetic, pagan, and satanism (not devil worship, but the promotion of self-indulgence) to name a few.
i'm thoroughly intrigued to learn how those of you who remained christian managed to maintain your faith in god and christ, especially after enduring all the lies that we've been told about them.

I'm with Cofty — follow the evidence. Also logic and reason. It becomes quickly apparent that we have been brought up with tales of folklore that gave more power to the powerful.
I encourage reading the Bible and not skipping over Jehovah's vengeful and jealous spirit. Read the accounts of genocide and reflect. Ask why slavery was ever good.
Then go on to the NY and ask why Jesus is continually boasting the goodness of his father; the god of Abraham... read carefuly...
Read and ask questions... that will do it for you. -

I am wholeheartidly with you thedog1. I know the courage it takes to post here for the first time.
I had so many questions... so many. I just wanted to encourage you to face these questions, and find answers that will ease your want for truth.
For my sake, I am now an atheist — so I will let others help you, as they will be more fit to give you good advice.
Hang in there. You have just scratched the surface of the incredible amount of lies and control we have all been victim to. -

i've brought up to jws that revelation says not to take anything out or you will get the second death.. but they are ok with it because they compare it to not using the book of thomas, mary, etc.. what would you say to that?.
