It's going to be interesting - us 3 siblings interviewed together - it's the first time we've ever done this all-to-gether. My brother was disfellowshipped in '78 and my sister in around '83 and they have very strong feelings about their experiences. It will be a no-holds barred interview, let me tell ya. They wanted me to write Father's Touch more than I did. I told them it's about time the world hears from you...I need a break..LOL

Interesting thread...and your post Minimus... this reminds me of the answer people give to this question, Do you know anyone who has HIV...Most people I've asked say no, yet they don't realize HIV is not something people have stamped on their forehead. It's the same with abuse survivors. My siblings and I all were abused (4 of us)-we moved from congregation to congregation every other year...we were known throughout the district as well...I'm talking 1000s of Witnesses knew us or met us as my parents became Witnesses in 58 and the last of us kids didn't leave until '85 (that would me moi). So with the untold invisable #'s of 1 in 3 girls (public stats) and 1 in 4 boys experiencing some form of sexual abuse in their lifetime, who hasn't met a victim? And considering how many Witnesses disclosed their experience to me when I went public in '81 (whether abused by strangers, family, in or outside a religion), I cannot believe anyone hasn't met a victim sometime in their life. And if you've been a Witness the chances are the same odds as any religion's members. To me the world is a Pedophile's Paradise. http://www.fatherstouch.com

Hi Skally..thanks for the well wishes... I've been talking about sexual abuse publicly since '81 - since the preliminary trial on our case...I've written numerous articles, been interviewed countless times...written a book that talks about Witnessville from beginning to end. I've beat that subject to death. From my experience, I don't hear people talk about the universality of the problem of sexual abuse ENOUGH! I've had more than 1000 victims disclose their abuse to me in the last two decades...the percentage that were Jehovah's Witness children is less than 5 %. I talk from my experience - I don't represent anyone's voice but my own and my family with their permission. The fact that I was a Jehovah's Witness and I'm being interviewed speaks volumes alone! I have no doubt (based on the sample questions I gave you earlier) that my experience as a JW will come up. I've seen the Dateline, Fifth Estate and Panaorma shows - there have been public representations of the Jehovah's Witness factor on Prime Time Television. Anytime I speak in a public forum on abuse, I speak for the voice of "these kids" ...Hopefully, I can in a small way show how it is possible for victims to find their own voice. Thanks for wishing me luck!
