  JWs exposed in Norway

  during the past week, 17 different articles on various practices of jws and comments to those, have been published on the web page of the norwegian equivalent of the bbc, nrk: http://www.nrk.no/nyheter/norge/1.8397366.

  in addition to this a special news programme with a discussion on sexual abuse and jw was broadcast on nrk2, and p1 contained an interview with an ex-jw on its weekly news summary programme.. it seems the expose is continuing..

  Need Some Tough Love & Help

  not sure how to approach this but here goes.....my wife discovered a porn site on the computer tonight.

  yes, i was going to them, and i was foolish to think i could never get caught.

  i have been visiting them for some years, not a daily problems, but occasionaly every month or so - still a problem wethere its once or a hundred times.

  has your wife threatened to tell you daughter or are you afraid that you might have to tell your daughter why the marriage failed if it does fail? Or I guess your daughter will try dig as to why your marriage has broken up and may find out that way. I see that you have been keen to exonerate your wife as much as you can. sounds to me that you are concerned about your own part in the trouble that is ensuing and want to explore this here on JWN rather than blame your wife.

  My suggestion is to try counselling - maybe even sex therapy. this may open up a way for you both to enrich your sex lives without having to be secretive

  it's nice to finally be able to say hello to you all, having been a long time reader of the forum.. i put off signing up as i didn't feel i had much to contribute, but if i'm honest, seeing atlantis' post about confidential information pushed me into it.. i hope i can get round to writing my story - i always enjoy reading others and it never ceases to amaze me how many have had similar experiences.. so there goes my first post!.

  CO Disfellowshipped in UK

  so, i have it on very good authority that a co has recently been disfellowshipped in the uk.

  he has just finished serving the north west london area.

  i don't know any details but perhaps there is someone who does know what happened.

  true - a CO has been disfellowshipped recently. Heard it on the grapewine

  edit: not sure if I ought to mention his name though as he may be a poster, lurker here. Not saying he is but most people who get disfellowshipped come here. fantastic sincere speaker and caring brother

  Got the contract

  now i just have to sign on the dotted line and drop it off and i shall once again be in the permanent job field.

  i won't be earning a huge amount by any means but it is enough to cover my bills and to save a little bit.

  this does give me that relief of finances coming in, of course i'll be keeping my ears and eyes open for better opportunities, but that being said i shall embrace this new opportunity with open arms and eagerness.. it's been a hellofa tough year people - hellofa tough.

  charis has a range of meanings and I question the author's taking what charis means in an economic context and applying it to a theological context. Economic context smacks too much of exchange value and use value and would seem to be a rather reductive way of looking at the word. In contrast christians here on JWN tend to use charis alongside ideas of being free from those sorts of values and seem to capture what I find the most enchanting about charis - the idea of delight, or being delighted. Similar to when we say "the pleasure is all mine"or "I am delighted to help/offer my services".

  i am pleased to announce that candace conti, and her key lawyers rick simons and kelly kraetsch are planning a youtube video to answer any questions that people in our community may have regarding the recent conti v watchtower lawsuit.

  i have offered to coordinate the gathering of these questions, and i thought it might be fun to do it in a "competition" style jwn thread, with the best answers being chosen by kelly, rick and candace to be addressed in the video.. as you can imagine, there are some provisos to this.... this is an active lawsuit, so for obvious legal reasons kelly, rick and candace will have the absolute and final decision as to which questions are answered and how much information is divulged when they are answered.we need the answers in the next 7 days, so the "cut off" for this competition is exactly 7 days from the time this thread goes live on jwn.we kindly request that all questions are asked in a respectful manner without any malicious or offensive intent.

  any inappropriate questions will obviously be discarded and ignored.

  I'd like to encourage Candace to take steps to move on with her life as, imo, what she has achieved already is more than I could ever have hoped for. Now my concern is that she enjoy the rest of her life as much as she can.

  after leaving, i still couldn't wrap my head around evolution (after the years of seing "intelligent design" in everything around me).. there's a series of videos that give a good intro to evolution and critical thinking.

  NC - I meant awareness in human terms. sorry I was not clear

  NC why is a fall not logical in the context of evolution? For example if we take evolution to turn on the survival of the fittest, and if the fittest denotes what is most fit for its environment, then there must also be an awareness that the best, the most able bodied, the most gifted in human terms often have to die becasuse evolution does not select according to human paramaters.

  We are humans and we are talking about a fall - a fall that is understandable to us as people - the logic here, that I am trying to grasp when listening to those who believe in God, is not biological but anthropological.
