to me the bible is mostly written in "eventful" language. so when it talks about the cowardly, alongside the vile, the murders, the sexually immoral - one has to apprenhend this as if you were on the receiving end - the one against whom the injustices were committed as well as the one committing the acts of injustice.

If you don't know what's wrong it can't be fixed
by N.drew inthat is what i heard last night at my yoga class.
she said for something to be fixed first it must become known what needs fixing.
it is true for the physical, but also for the spiritual i believe.

Words get broken down to define their meaning better than one generic word for everything. I hear in the far north there are many words for "snow".
The way I understand it is auton comes from the word autos, but is more specific.
okay.
scandalize from biblos.com says it all. If your right eye scandalizes you pluck it out.

don't give up - here I'll put it back on a serious note if you want
the textus receptus (courtesy of free bible tools) says autos but I think the JW greek interlinear (which I don't have to hand) says auton. why the difference?
auton translated like that makes sense, n.drew.

still thinking
by N.drew indo you never worry that with your persistent harping and complaining about people who are differnet than you you might discourage people of faith from coming to jwn?.
i do not follow you around every thread to criticize you.
maybe you should grow up..

hi tec thanks for replying.
I agree that some respond to the mind and some to the body and that we have people with strengths in each one.
It does sound rhetorical but I meant it more as you have taken it as I have recently been thinking about how explosive the body is.

I hate coming between you two - stillthinking and N.Drew - as stilllthinking you talk to my mind after your long silence amongst JWs (I'm guessing though that it was not just your mind that was silenced) - N.Drew you talk to my body (via my heart, kidneys, intestines) and rarely to my mind. Which gets people out of JWs faster - the mind or the body?
edit: the mind and body are both logical imo so I'm not belittling anyone

bubblegum, the Routledge Colloquial language learning series are awsome. And if you add a self help grammar book too, you will make even more progress.

A RIGHT-eous conundrum!
by Fernando inhow can i be right with god?.
there are only two ways:.
work to prove, earn, deserve or pay for a right standing with god (unscriptural, and actually causes corruption)seek out and accept the free gift of imputed righteousness, and then be transformed or changed from inside by god's love (scriptural)a person spends his life in a religious system because he wants to be right with god.

my own view is that we just have to live with not being right with ourselves and with whatever God is to us. we are here to strive and forge new paths. this is the conundrum of life imo

Tomorrow's Watchtower Study: Steve hits Selma in North America... not South America
by Alfred ini started a thread a few days ago that probably went unnoticed for the most part (under "scandals & cover-ups") regarding steve hitting selma in tomorrow's wt study... i just wanted to recap it here for those who may have missed it.... the spanish version changes the story completely.... if you've read that paragraph 12 it basically says that steve hit selma as she tried to prove a point.
selma then feels sorry for herself.. in the spanish version steve merely gets furious with her and she gets sad.. by the way, i just looked up the italian version... .
selma ricorda una lezione che imparo dalla sorella che le conduceva lo studio.

"Feeling sorry for yourself" about being hit by your husband is not Christian 2/15/12 WT Page 25 P 12
by yourmomma inhave anyone of you read, the absolutly jaw dropping paragraph in this article about a women who was hit by her husband?
its in page 25 of the 2/15/12 wt study edition (i read the dumbed down version).. .
if there was any question, that the watchtowers stance is for wives to simply take it when their husbands abuse them, this makes it crystal clear.. who the hell is scanning these things before they go to print?
