at the pioneer school, we are told to avoid offering people a 'bible study,' but rather to call it a 'discussion' or, better yet, dont tell them anything initially, just start the study before they notice.

this is particularly addressed to those of you long-timers.
it seems that the society has always deliberately avoided the use of the word `conversion"" and ``convert(s)'' in its literature.
yet it's clearly a scriptural term and would seem to fit their aggressive prosyletizing mentality quite well.. any ideas what it is that they find objectionable?

i'm going to post another thread on this since my last attempt to hijack a thread was utterly in vain.. does anyone have the latest watchtower library cd?
i *think* the year was '99 or '01, but i'm not 100% on that.. if so, would it be possible to put an iso of it on the web somewhere?
(or, if not, at least host it on your computer for a bit such that i could pick it up via icq or gnutella or something?).
While this is a murky area and few fair use advisories will ever suggest that copying an entire work is appropriate, I was chiefly pointing out the contrast between Ray's books, which are made available at a market price to anyone who wishes to buy them, as opposed to the Watchtower CD, which is not available to Xander at any price.
i spose in that context only, its a fair opinion, as long as you keep in mind that impact on the market is only ONE of the four fair use factors (albeit the most important.) i dont see how the publisher denying access to some group can have any impact at all on fair use. if you have some precedent, or a description in the copyright laws of this clause or even a proposal or anything at all that indicates this is a factor, id love to see it. in the meantime, i would stick to the established definition and examples of 'fair use.'

bodhi - your understanding of 'fair use' is pathetic. i'm the last person to agree with the arguments of the copyright lawmakers, but if you want to fight them, you should at least be able to discuss them intelligently.

the following two accounts of the morning visit by the women to anoint jesus body are contradictory.
according to mark, the women wondered how they would remove the stone covering the tomb, but they found that it had already been rolled away.
matthew, however, says that when the women went to the tomb, there was an earthquake, and an angel came down from heaven, went to the tomb, and rolled the stone back.
speechless: did you just christ is as likely to be real as the easter bunny? whose argument are you making again?? youve totally lost me.

it is interesting what you said on my previous post about neanderthal man, because the creationists don't seem to agree on a lot of things.. e.g some say neanderthals were pre-flood human, other say they suffered from ricketts/syphilis, others that they were apes!.
the creationists website say all kind of strange things such as the .
before WOL closed down, there was a guy in the science forum that had this brand-new theory that he was really proud of. he had to check with the elders before he could reveal the details tho to make sure it wasnt contrary to anything the society taught. so he finally lays out his theory: neanderthal=nephilim. he had it all figured out. pre-flood, larger and stronger than humans, died out. (he appeared to have confused 'robust' with 'large and strong'.) to their credit, a lot of the regular posters told him this was pretty unlikely, but i dont really see any intelligent interpretation put forward by JWs as to *what* neanderthal was. has anyone seen anything more than the WTs statement, that they were a 'race of humans that died out,' whatever that means.

hello to all that reply.
i'm looking for someone who use to be a devout muslim that.
has now become one of jehovah's witnesses!.
there are, not surprisingly, very few. of the ones i know, the common denominator seems to be oppression. (see also the thread on a recent religious study showing proportionally more blacks and women JWs than any other religions: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=21125) for example, women muslims who now live in a western country, or younger muslims disillusioned by the totalitarian government whove fled to western countries.

in november they got 966,528 pubs and 90,542 pioneers.. so, their exploitation of the wtc tragedy and 15 minute.
publisher policy has worked very well for them.. in december they got 968,126 publishers and 89,808 pioneers.
again, a big success in exploitation and 'paper' publishers.. i note that the pioneers dropped by 734 however.. maybe some more mass death will help.. metatron
baptisms for individual months should not be compared year-to-year since they are dependant on assembly schedules. only the entire year (or the entire summer) should be used.
