since you aren't jws anymore, what are your beliefs now?
have you rejected the bible as a whole?
you will not find much of a consensus of belief here anymore than you would expect to be able to decorate your house all in 'non-red' colours, reasoning that the colours would all go together becuase they share in common the property of being 'not red'

i was actually curious about this but hesitated bringing it up because of the annoying paranoid discussions in that other board about IPs and logs and such, discussions that have been refreshingly absent over here. i had wondered about the requesting domains, if your ISP log analysis provides this info (or the logs themselves) - didnt rick always use to say that he knew lurkers from bethel were there because of the requesting domains in the weblogs? wondering if that were true here...

now that i have to object to. copyright has nothing to do with money. if you are familiar with open source, or GNU licensing, you know that licenses and copyrights can be very important even to freely distributable products to help ensure that they are put to the use the author intended, within the bounds of fair use. and i am not aware that the society has said anything that gives the idea they object to fair use, as simon mentions. whatever their motives are, and the odd tack of the QFR article aside, they are well within their rights. how old does a publication have to be before it passes into the public domain tho, is it something like 50 years?

yesterday was announced that i was not longer a ministerial servant.
to be honest i felt really good about it.
i literally was tired of been pretending.
i was removed recently but it had nothing to do with my views or my desire to be or not to be an MS.
tho it was upsetting, it was a relief not to have to give talks anymore. i generally enjoyed it and, to be frank, i was a kick-ass speaker. thought-provoking, meaningful talks. if the material didnt make sense, i skip it and find something else i can say that does make sense. i liked it. altho, its hard at times. in fact, the last talk i gave was a KM article by the name of 'Lives are at Stake'. you may remeber it from the SM or from its being mentioned around here, it included such phrases as 'the billions now facing annihilation..' - whew, that was a tough one... i could barely get thru it. i would rather have gone out with my last talk being one of my PTs that ive gotten really comfortable with but oh well. its done now. i do get treated differently but it doesnt really affect me. i know im the same person...

well, i dont think i will continue to argue this point with you farkel. for one, we seem to basically agree and second, its making my head hurt. you said to scorp basically the same thing i said to you, that a standard of logic and rationality exists that god follows, not because that standard is imposed on him from something external but because, as you put it, logic simply IS.

there is a school of thought which says there may be more than one _kind_ of logic than that which we are familiar with, Boolean logic. this view is espoused by one of the great minds of our modern age, John von Neumann, as a possible interpretation of the apparent inconsistincies in our quantum universe. perhaps, he reasons, the concepts of 'and' 'either' 'not' are not universal. now, mind you, this is not a very popular theory today and, as i mentioned earlier, i am not a subscriber to it either. but there it is, i throw it out there just to be a smart-ass. thats what i do. im the mox.
from a very young age i have been curious about the ransom jesus provided.
i always wondered why god found it necessary to have his son killed for our sins or our inherited sin, when he simply could have just waved his hand and forgiven us.
my catholic faith helped me some to understand the 'financial' exchange aspect of the ransom, but it was never truly satisfying to my sensibilities.. upon becoming a jw, i felt that they had better ideas and definitions.
