  BlueBrother - If the watchtower advises you to believe in them in order to be saved, what tool do they use to achieve this end?, the koran?, the torah?, Of course Not, Its the bible and if you claim the watchtower add non biblical rules to suport their doctrines, please mention one of those rules.

  thetrueone - We shouldn't underestimate the importance of an organization, even JWN is being moderated to ensure that things go on smoothly, how much more an organization with more than 7 million devouts. Even countries like Estonia with just over one million citizens have a government, so what would we expect of a JW with 7 million sheeples.

  On a bigger picture, the real world we live in is also a cult of its own, we have this constant desire to belong to a caucus and to seek acceptability, even here, we many times see the need to intensify the bond of friendship beyond the JWN virtual interface and meetup for an apostafest. So, the point of castigating the org. carries no solid weight.

  My observation, the "threefold cord" actually weakens a marriage

  so my wife and i survived leaving the jw faith together over the course of the last 4 years.

  it was a wild ride for our relationship, but thankfully we are stronger than ever.

  so looking back, here is my observation about the "threefold cord", at least the jw version of it.. i believe the idea of the threefold cord actually weakens a marriage, keeping it less mature.

  Robert7 - I am at peace with those observations, thats why the organization is called an "opaque construct". Their whole spiritual program is a design. 130 years of manipulation is enough for brooklyn clowns to have worked things out effectively. All aspect of lives have been exploited to the full in order to fry their members in the deep sauce of thier incorrigible spiritual pan.

  It simply goes like this

  A JW is the most eligible mate you could ever find, so go for it

  A JW is the most sensible neighbour you could ever have, so contact folks in your congo if a brother is in need of an apartment

  A JW makes for the best employer and employees

  Once you involve yourself and exit, you are in for a shit through and through.

  How do Jehovah’s Witnesses arrive at their explanation of the Bible?

  A key factor is that the Witnesses really believe that the Bible is God’s Word and that what it contains is there for our instruction. (2 Tim. 3:16, 17; Rom. 15:4; 1 Cor. 10:11) So they do not resort to philosophical arguments to evade its clear statements of truth or to justify the way of life of people who have abandoned its moral standards.

  In pointing out the meaning of symbolic language in the Bible, they let the Bible provide its own explanation, instead of giving their theories as to its significance. (1 Cor. 2:13) Indications as to the meaning of symbolic terms are usually found in other parts of the Bible. (As an example, see Revelation 21:1; then, regarding the meaning of “sea,” read Isaiah 57:20. To identify “the Lamb” referred to in Revelation 14:1, see John 1:29 and 1 Peter 1:19.)

  As for fulfillment of prophecy, they apply what Jesus said about being alert to events that correspond to what was foretold. (Luke 21:29-31; compare 2 Peter 1:16-19.) Conscientiously they point out those events and draw attention to what the Bible indicates they mean.

  Jesus said that he would have on earth a “faithful and discreet slave” (his anointed followers viewed as a group), through which agency he would provide spiritual food to those making up the household of faith. (Matt. 24:45-47) Jehovah’s Witnesses recognize that arrangement. As was true of first-century Christians, they look to the governing body of that “slave” class to resolve difficult questions—not on the basis of human wisdom, but by drawing on their knowledge of God’s Word and his dealings with his servants, and with the help of God’s spirit, for which they earnestly pray.—Acts 15:1-29; 16:4, 5.

  this thread is directed at elders who are still serving but lurking here.. 1) how do you handle personal confessions being made to you?..

  2) how do you manouvever other elders on jc without destroying victims lifes.

  3) how do you handle reports of wrongdoing, how have you balanced the situation in such a way that the accused is not affected although known by someone else.. please i will appreciate a pm for a response and only from those who are still serving as elders but mentally out.
