  this past weekend, one of the few remaining jw relatives who will still discuss jw stuff with me told me about his recently attending a home bible study being conducted by an elder.

  evidently, the study had been told or had picked up some info about the 1975 fiasco.

  the elder totally denied that the society had stated or even led people to believe that armageddon would occur in 1975, and he naturally blamed some individual jws for misinterpreting the society's materials.

  MadApostate - Used this on my dad.

  At first my dad saif the society never said it. Then I pulled his bound voume of the 1968 Awake! and went to the article "What do the 1970's mean to you?" (or something like that.) Then he admited it, but said it was just a writer's opinion. Then I reminded him the Governing Body wrote the articles. Then and only then did my father admit they said 1975.

  I think all the elders know, my dad sure did, but he was taking part in "Theocratic Warfair," the term used when it's OK to lie to protect the Wt unless you are caught with your pants at your ankles.

  If you can get your hands on that Awake or the bound volume, you are set!

  we're the apostates!

  we're a special group of colorful, round snuggly little apostates whos job it is to help you understand your own feelings and share them with others.. as you can see, we have special pictures on our tummies, and those pictures tell you the special job each of us loves to do.. .

  Just got Home/Elder Dad just realized I'm Apostate

  well, just got back from a big talk with my parents.

  i finally let them in on the fact that i question the society.

  (dad is an elder and mother has been in it for 67 years since birth.

  Thanks for the advice cyberguy, that what I did, made it appear just to be doubts I suppose. Anyhow, I used the scripture on testing my faith and so far, nothing. My dad even called to see if he could save me seats Sunday. I think I am gonna just stay the heck away from here on out, this way I can't be cut off from my friends or helping others.

  Ok, does the WT accept people back lovingly? No - At 19 I was Df'd for getting pregant out of wedlock. I felt so bad and not about getting caught. If I didn't wanna get caught I could have "done things," but I didn't. I faced the music and "confessed to the elders. When the judged me and told me I was not repentant, they were totally out of line. They did not know the circumstances and hurt me so badly I can never even begin to describe the hurt I went through. Jehovah forgave me, why didn't they? Over a year later I was reinstated, after my 3rd letter. So, how may I ask is that anyhitng liek the prodigle's son? I asked to return not 1 time, but 4 times, and they finally welcomed me "with open arms." But even after I was reinstated, I was treated like a disease, and my daughter was treated by SOME as a bastard. You know what I say? That is NOT LOVE. I will always cry when I think of that day. I hate to say it, but I will never be good enough to forgive them. The PO who was chairman still won't speak to me. I even went to him once when a family member was dying and he walked away. Prodigle's son? More like they are picking at the straw in my eye...

I also the topic on the "Prodigal Child" and another article on "What Does it Mean to Be Loyal?," and last but not least he back page discussing hte palm tree and producing good "fruits."   Crazy cult on TV last night

  i was watching tv last night and on tvland (a cable channel that shows older tv shows from the 50's onward) they had some drama about this little boy who gets edison's disease.. his mom is in a cult called satan fighters.

  now here's an interesting beleif system, is it based on a real cult?.

  they beleive when someone gets deathly ill, they are 'angel possesed' and that the angel is possessing the poor person to take him to heaven.

  "euyah, euyaaaah," said the visibly flustered 900-pound manatee, accidentally knocking over a podium with its flat, paddle-like tail.

  Seeing on how I live near the Caloosahatchee River and have seen manatees killed by boaters going too fast in shallow canals, this story hits home in a wierd sorta way. Funny version, but it shows how poorly these sweet animals are represented. You know what makes me mad? When I see a bumber sticker (of some jerk with a rifle in his back truck window) that says "I have boating rights, manatees don't" or "The manatees need to get outa the way, I have rights!"

  Yeah, well if it was up to me, I'd have a very special little hunting season myself....

  Please help me with the forum

  keeping a balance in what is allowed and what is not is very difficult and is more difficult if i have to take action against one person when i have let other things go by others.. it would help a lot if we could stop the personal attacks and some of the name calling & insults that are thrown about.

  i know personalities do and will clash but please disagree about the subjects being discussed and not get personal!.

  if you think someone is deliberately trying to cause arguments please do not respond to them as this is giving in to what they want.

  Thank you for removing this person, which I do not find your actions biased. It's your forum to do as you want. I feel it's unfair to allow bashing people around because thier beleifs differ from yours. Please excuse me for this, but that person sounds like a jerk and if I ever act that way, do the same to me.

  P.S. Everyone - keep in mind this forum does cost $ to keep up, so I am going to try to remember to use the PayPal donate, as we all should help out. Even a dollor or two, a few bucks add up really fast. Nothing in life is free.
