Funny how she did not mind being with worldly people, and that she even accepted an invite to a gathering that included so many non-witnesses and that she expected these non-witness people to be shunning you. She is the one who is selfish and it sounds like she would love to have the whole world treat you like dirt, shame on her.

Some JWs this morning told me a "heart warming" story about a child baptism!
by AuntBee inapparently this gal was a relative, and was baptized at the ripe old age of 10!
i let them tell the story, after i had begun talking about how wt splits up families.
i responded that i did not agree with this at all, that this girl could not possibly have the mental capacity, the research/analytical ability, (or even the freedom, considering the info control!

Ah yes, so very heart-warming...not! What did those 'sisters' say after you told them that infants being baptised don't later get shunned should they leave? I'm imagining sheepish looks.

Circuit Accounts Servants Confesses how the SCAM WORKS!!
by JT inyes, i too have wondered how an assembly that is held in a fully paid for assembly hall, with no food service, could possibly have $10,000 in expenses.
i suppose the bethel speakers have transportation expenses - maybe $1000 or so.
as for rent on the assembly hall, well you have already paid for it once, why pay again?

I always wondered how an assembly could cost so much, and had asked why don't they have to give an accounting of the money, as they do at the KH. Definitely they are straining out the gnat, and keeping the camel a secret.

The last info available was that JW's should not ignore No Trespassing signs. If they do, and the people sue them, they are on their own according to the WTBTS. There was some sort of case where someone posted signs, and the JW's ignored it, when confronted, they claimed not to have seen them, which was not possible as they were clearly visible. The householder took the JW's to court and won the case. The Borg sent a letter around maybe 5-7 years ago regarding the official policy.

how exactly did they know if one "stone" was damaged ?

I always wondered how they knew if someone was circumcised or not. Did they go in pairs or groups to urinate? Did the standard introduction of strangers require that they all lift up their skirts?

Email from my grandmother yesterday.
by elder-schmelder inhere is an email that my grandmother sent me yesterday.. .
shawn, it's very difficult & sad to come to this decision, but because of your attitude towards the truth & us personally (thinking that we are stupid) we're going to treat you as a disfellowshipped person from now on.
actually, you're worse than them because usually they know they have not kept their oath to jehovah & don't speak abusively of the organization and don't turn apostate.

elder-That was an interesting email. Threats of disinheriting you. If their estate is substantial, could you possibly force a court review, to check their state of mind. The state may be interested to see if they are being taken advantage of by JW's, the high control/cult thing.
I'm sorry that they feel that way about you.

At the DC last year, one of the speakers emphasized that to give to charitable institutions was a foolish thing to do, even to hospitals or such like, as they are all going to be destroyed. I leaned over to my hubby and said, "And yet they want the best of medical treatment possible."
Wolfman85-I remember hearing the same things, even before Haiti, 'Do not specify what the donation is for, the WTBTS will deal with the donation responsibly."

I grew up in a JW household. We moved from a very lovely congregation with lots of young families in South California to Minnesota. We had a nice life in California, a nice home, decent job (dad), decent clothing, nice suburban neighborhood and great weather. We moved to Minnesota to save my dad's family from armegeddon, which was to occur ing 1975. His family thought my parents were nuts, and were annoyed that they wouldn't stop preaching at them. Our move occured in October, which is the beginning of a very long, cold winter in Minnesota. Dad had no steady job, mom had to go to work in a sweat shop to support the family. I had to be home alone in a strange neighborhood, on the cold, cold afternoons after school, it would get dark very early, due to the latitude. We had only the cheapest clothes, because of the minimum wage job of my mom's and dad not finding steady work. I was teased unmercibly at school due to the cheapo and inadequate clothing and also for my California accent, to say nothing of the oddities of the JW mandates regarding flag salutes, holidays, birthdays and so forth at school. The cong. was full of people related to each other, they had no room for poor interlopers from the west coast. It was incredibly lonely.
I was also constantly in fear of 1975. There were parts brought out of how the persecution was going to be so bad, and that there would be nothing to eat and so forth if we left the borg. The Borg came out with the 1975 or 74 yearbook about the severe persecution suffered by the German and other european witnesses at the hand of the Nazis. It was terrifying!
In spite of our poverty, we went out in the ministry regularly, no matter how damned cold it was. I had cheapo plastic boots with little lining and my feet would be freezing and ache from the cold. When they started to warm up, the pain was severe. To my knowledge, in all the years we lived in Minnesota, my parents never brought anyone into the borg., no matter how many worthless hours were wasted driving thru the country side looking for 'right hearted ones'.
I got baptized for only one reason: Dad said he wouldn't come to my wedding if I wasn't baptized and if the wedding wasn't in a KH.
There you have it, I was blackmailed into baptism. Which is a stupid, stupid reason to get baptized. I was only 18, and didn't want to lose my family as I had lost everything else.

I've always wondered that too. Just think how effective that would be. Stones are everywhere, the streets are made of stones, we pass stones as we go for walks or drive in our cars. A talking stone would be far more interesting than a talking bald guy in a bad suit or a fat woman with long graying hair and a peasant skirt.
