One of the reasons a KH wedding is a big deal for JW's is that is alledgedly shows the congregation that the couple is in a 'clean' moral standing, no 'loose' conduct occuring during the 'courtship' time period. I did know a brother who was reinstated and a month or two later started dating a sister, they had a short engagement, as JW's are wont to do, and they wanted to get married at a KH. This was objected to, as he hadn't been reinstated 'long' enough. They opted to be married in an outdoor ceremony. They couldn't get an elder to marry them, as he wasn't 'clean' enough. Finally, his brother-in-law who was a ministrial servant did the ceremony. The whole thing was ridiculous. Definitely shows how the borg prefers the oral or their own law, above what is written in the bible.

Armaggedon Nightmares
by perfect1 infrom time to time i have an apocalyptic nightmare, which i attribute to the wt doctrines being planted in my head from birth.. recently, i dreamed i was standing in a skyscraper in nyc when a flying metal sphere came into my hands.
from the window i could see the city was exploding- (looking south towards lower manhattan) the metal sphere was a homing device for the missiles as well as camera which was observing- anyway i grabbed it and decided that as it was directing the attack, the attack would end with me.
so i held it up at the window where i could see the city being destroyed- flames, explosions, orange grey- and as i did the missiles headed my way.

Darling perfect1, you my dear, have my greatest empathy as I too suffer with nightmares related directly to my whole life being in the borg. Others here also have them. Some also have sleep paralysis, which can seem to a semi-conscious mind to be a demon attack. I don't know if you or I or anyone else here with this problem will overcome them but...knowing why they are happening, and with sleep paralysis, what is happening does give you a small weapon to try to talk to your mind about what just occured.
T he more I read about 'our' collective harrowing experience with the WTBTS, the more I begin to think some (myself, for sure) have classic symptoms of post-traumatic stress syndrome, especially if being a born-in or an almost born-in. Mental help may be in order.
perfect1-you a definitely not alone.

JOB-Was He Used As A Gambling Pawn?
by PaintedToeNail inthe book of job describes a conversation between the devil and jehovah, as everyone knows.
however, satan knew jehovah intimately and would have been well aware of jehovah's ability of foreknowledge.
one would have to imagine that jehovah could have easily just told satan that job would in fact be faithful and therefore spared job the agony he went through, as he had insight because of his foreknowledge that the spirit creatures should have understood.. did jehovah and satan have a high-stakes game going?

Ironically, it was a reference to Job in a Watchtower last year, that made me realize that I needed to fade. Thank you to everyone for your posts.

Did Jehovah and Satan have a high-stakes game going? Was Job and his family the ante? That's what is seems like, but then the foreknowledge question needs to be dealt with.
If there was no foreknowledge available to God, then he would have played the ultimate high-stakes poker with with highest ante ever. This should allow Jehovah's Witnesses the latitude to gamble for sport, as all they would have would be their material possesions, not their lives, in the pot.
Thoughts anyone?

11-year-old niece was told by JW grandmother that she shouldn't play in band
by keyser soze ini haven't posted here in a while, but i thought this was worth mentioning, and i just wanted to vent about it.. my brother and sister-in-law, who are now divorced, bought my niece a clarinet about a year ago, so she could play in the band at school.
she loves it more than anything in the world.
one day last week, her grandmother found out about this and got all upset about it.

New type of spider discovered is believed to be one of the most 'evolutionary unique' on the planet
by tootired2care inapparently they have just discovered a completely new type of spider in a cave in southern oregon, very different from other spiders.
i thought this was a very interesting find.. "the 'cave robber', a newly discovered spider believed to be one of the most 'evolutionary unique' on the planet.".

Definitely hideous enough. It most likely has been around for millenia. I've done a tiny amount of research on spiders, in an effort to find some reason not to be totally freaked out by the ugly things and found out: a Huge number spider species have never been identified, many are critically endangered due to habitat loss, they are the most common things of the 'bug' variety and are responsible of most of the pest control on earth, including keeping each other in check. They have discovered an unknown type spider in NE Pennsylvania this summer, white an green. Doing the research helped me to gain a tiny amount of empathy for the gruesome things. Now I only kill them when they are in the house...a huge change for me from "Kill it! Kill! Kill!

00DAD-Please accept my condolence on the loss of your son on his 21st birthday. It is a crying shame that he has rejected you for a crazy concept. Hopefully, he will be resurrected by one day by waking up to TTATT. Meanwhile, I offer a toast of 'good health, mental and emotional happiness, and prosperity' to you on your being out for the last 3 years.
