Regarding bibles-I received one at a local county fair, there were people just handing them out...I was also approached, ironically enough, while sitting in my car at the grocery store, by a woman who was handing out bibles and literature. She saw me glance at her, making eye contact and offering a smile, and she decided to offer me her literature and bible. She seemed very nice, and I'm sure I looked like every 'householder' ever encountered who was too nice to refuse what we were offering in FS, lol!

FREE Home Bible Study?!?!?
by Christ Alone inso i finally took a deep breath and watched the annual meeting report.
i found a little nugget before the "new light" discussion began.
there was a report about the "public preaching" that was taking place in manhattan.

Shunned while my Son copes with Cancer.
by phil the fish filleter inhi guys, i am known to some on here and to prevent further problems from the trolls that may identify my son from what i am disclosing i have a different name.
so, my 26 year old son gets the diagnosis ocular melanoma back on june 14th this year with a very bleak outlook.
i walked away from the cult some years ago, however my son stayed in as he was engaged to an uber witness girl.

phil-I am so sorry that your son and your family are going thru this difficult and scary time. It was good to learn the doctors got the tumor out, hopefully your son will respond to the other treatments the doctors are likely to give.
It is even more horrible that his in-laws are trying to blackmail your son into never seeing you. It is good that his wife is refusing to go along with her disillusioned, demented parents.
I wish you and your son and your family the very best of outcomes!

DAMN
by never a jw inin the last six months i have learned so much about jw's from the "apostate" books and web sites such as jwfacts and this great site.
ever since i started my research on jw's three adjectives to describe the wts leadership came to mind: deceptive, arrogant and manipulative.
i just noticed today that the first letters create the acronym dam.

When You Were Sitting During The Meetings What Were You Really Thinkng About?
by minimus ini used to listen to all the stupid comments and wonder if i could sneak out of there and scram!
even after i resigned as an elder, i went for a while and eventually began missing more and more meetings.
but while i was there, i'd listen to comments, chuckle to myself how dumb it all was and then go home with the knowledge that my days were numbered there..

darth-hahah! I was doing the same thing, but in reverse, 'which brothers here are hot'? Also, I would count how many people were wearing what colors...15 wearing different shades of green, 12 reds, 7 blue and so on. At assemblies, I'd count the number of sisters wearing hats, seating section by seating section. The black sisters always were far in the lead in sheer numbers of hat wearing, they also tended to wear them so much better...why is that?

I can hard wait to see this movie. I'm a huge Lincoln fan
Whenever they would ask at the meeting who you most wanted to meet in the New System / New World, I would always anwer 'Abraham Lincoln'...complete silence in the KH...not the correct answer!

good old apocalyptic science fiction
by Hortensia inhave you ever read "no blade of grass," "on the beach" or "the satan-bug?
" i have a feeling it wouldn't hurt to reread those old novels.. folks around here argue about gmo foods, for instance, without realizing that one of the main problems with gmo is lack of diversity, dangerous if a disease comes along that kills the main crops of the world.. and people seem to have forgotten that humans could indeed destroy themselves completely, if someone starts a nuclear war.
they always seem to think there could be survivors of an all-out nuclear war.

As a small child, I watched 'Omega Man', it was very scary for a little kid. An epidemic changes all human into diseased beings who can only go out at night, only the main character, played by Charleton Heston, isn't infected. The beings all try to find and kill him at night. During the day, he scavenges for things to live. The movie was remade in 2007 and starred Will Smith, it was titled 'I Am Legend'. It was creepy too.
