  How to Choose a Wife!

  back in the day, when my family moved to a new congregation, i fell head over heels with a young sister who was an elder's daughter.

  it wasn't long before we were talking about marriage and i was contemplating buying her an engagement ring.

  my parents were not happy at all.

  I have a relative who followed 'theocratic direction' and asked the elders at the hall about 'Joe". The elders lied, told her that 'Joe' was a fine brother, would definitely make a good husband. She married 'Joe. With days, she found out 'Joe' was violent, had put his late wife into the hospital during one of his tirades and had been arrested for attempted manslaughter of someone else. The elders told her father after he asked them how on earth they recommended him 'We thought he would change if he married 'Sara'.

  So the elders of 'Joe's' congregation outright lied to 'Sara' and she made her decision based on their 'trustworthiness'. She is now trapped.

  am i alone in this feeling?

  i wish i could muster the cojones needed to tell my husband "i want a divorce, move away, not be a jw anymore!".

  i find myself screaming these same words over and loud inside my mind, several times a day, and yet on the outside my actions could not be more opposed to these inner feelings.. sometimes i worry that this internal conflict will cause me to go crazy.

  If someone were to hold signs with 'These people protect pedophiles', it would be a good idea to have a list of the public victims, like Conti, and/or the names of the pedophiles, like Kendrick and Lopez and a web address so that those interested could look up the info themselves.

  Interesting where he said that being a JW in Atlanta was small and almost cultlike. He wasn't being negative in his answer, just truthful, no malice intended.
