  How sad for the Navajos. Their culture is requires respect for the ancient customs, many which are at odds with the JW lifestyle. Yet another group of people being homogenized. Even worse, they are using them to promote a cause that disrupts their way of life and begging for money.

  back in the day, when my family moved to a new congregation, i fell head over heels with a young sister who was an elder's daughter.

  it wasn't long before we were talking about marriage and i was contemplating buying her an engagement ring.

  my parents were not happy at all.

  I have a relative who followed 'theocratic direction' and asked the elders at the hall about 'Joe". The elders lied, told her that 'Joe' was a fine brother, would definitely make a good husband. She married 'Joe. With days, she found out 'Joe' was violent, had put his late wife into the hospital during one of his tirades and had been arrested for attempted manslaughter of someone else. The elders told her father after he asked them how on earth they recommended him 'We thought he would change if he married 'Sara'.

  So the elders of 'Joe's' congregation outright lied to 'Sara' and she made her decision based on their 'trustworthiness'. She is now trapped.

  i've been lurking for about 3 months now and thought i'd better finally sign up.

  you have all been an immense help to me as i have come to realize that this isn't the truth so i want to say a great big thank you!

  what a crazy, emotional ride it is to finally face the truth about the doubts that i have carried for many years.

  Stumpy, I found it. Didn't realize that there were so many videos on JW broadcasting. That was a stupid remark about the leak. I believe I will be showing this stupidity to hubby...

  am i alone in this feeling?

  i wish i could muster the cojones needed to tell my husband "i want a divorce, move away, not be a jw anymore!".

  i find myself screaming these same words over and loud inside my mind, several times a day, and yet on the outside my actions could not be more opposed to these inner feelings.. sometimes i worry that this internal conflict will cause me to go crazy.
