Ah yes, blame the victim. Who cares if she was a little girl, she seduced him...he as a mature adult couldn't control himself. Makes me vomit!

Thank you blondie, you summation of the WT study is on the mark as usual. I really enjoyed how you brought out that their is no individual protection at the present time, and how Noah didn't preach for years unending.

Purgatory and JWN
by wha happened? inwell hello everyone.. after some thought, i realized that i've created a middle world for myself, that is neither jw, nor included in the other 99% of the population.
in fact, living here in jwn is like a cong sometimes.
the rumours, the gossip, the clicks, it's all here, if that's what u want.. what's happened to me is that i'm almost in a jw state of mind with the small group mentality.

Greetings from Candace Conti
by AndersonsInfo incandace asked me to tell you thank you for all your kind expressions of support.
this really means a lot to her.
she wants you to know that she is coping well with all the stress and excitement, even though she's had years of anger and frustration because of being abused for so long, first by the molester, and then by the wt.

As a very small child, in California, where the people were open and friendly. There was always something going on, a picnic, beach trip, mini-golfing, trips to Knott's Berry Farm on Halloween night to avoid the trick or treaters. Then, my family moved away, sure they were going to save the extended family in the mid-west by preaching to them directly. We lived in three different states in a span of 9 months, and went from lovely warm weather to freezing our butts off in Minnesota. The congregations we moved to were all heavily related to one another and had no time for a family from Calif. We were broke financially. It was no longer a fun, happy life, rather one of miserable drudgery...Oh yeah, the extended family quickly got sick of being preached at and refused to have anything further to do with us.

Protected during prayers? Really?
by TimeBandit inprotected during prayers?.
did any of you ever hear stories or myths about faithful jws that when in prayer had been protected from something bad happening to them?.
maybe like the story i heard about the two sisters out in service who were about to be attacked by a viscous dog?

You are so right. I remember an account of a family down south (USA), who were killed on the way home from a circuit assembly. Another, of two very young sisters returning from a quick build in the Allentown area, who were killed in a hit and run. And what about those brothers on the regional building committee in Tennesse a few years ago, when their plane crashed? They were going to check out a building project, and one of the brothers was a pilot, they used his plane. These were all in the news media. All of these people were on 'God's' business, shouldn't they have been protected? Obviously, no one knows if they were praying at the moment, but protection seems to have been warranted, considering they were 'doing what they were supposed' to be doing.

Do JWs treat women like second-class citizens, like their husbands' property?
by matt2414 inas an elder, i recall that the husband always had to be present on any judicial committee meeting involving his wife, but that the wife was not to be present on judicial committee meetings involving her husband.
has this changed?
if not, isn't that treating women as lesser persons than their husbands?.

Regarding Absalom's rape of his father's concubines, the result for the concubines was being shut up in a house by themselves for the rest of their lives, never to see the light of day again. A prison for the victims....nice, NOT!

Yes, women are viewed as chattels. It does make one wonder why god created women with thinking ability if they were never supposed to use it.
If marriage is a union of two becoming one, then really, the wife should be at the husband's meeting, as he is at hers.
