I never thought about it, but you are right! David was supposedly restrained from taking the 'false step' of killing Nabal, yet he felt free to kill Uriah. Where was the counsel when that was taking place?

i have been a lurker here the last few months and have been going through the process of researching both sides of the story of jehovahs witnesses.
i was raised in the borg, got married and now have a young child.. my wife is very much dedicated to the organization and will justify anything the "slave" does putting it off on the borgs imperfection.

james-She may still be dealing with PN. I had it for quite a few years, and didn't realize what it was, even though it was staring me in the face. I ended up on Paxil, but only because I was seeing a pain doctor and he was trying to break the cycle of pain. One day, several weeks after starting Paxil, I realized I was smiling, and for no reason! Everything finally clicked together. I have been on Paxil most of the years since.
Also, oddly enough, maybe she wants you to take the place of her father, and tell her an emphatic "NO"! No, you won't treat me this way. No, you move out of the bedroom. No, you will not make me and the kids miserable, we are going to the park or lake or wherever. No, you are not coming with us.

Do you miss the sense of security the organisation gives you?
by Mr Facts ini am sure most of you miss the sense of security regarding the future that the organisation offers- the certainty of everlasting life in the paradise earth, being healed and the confidence that you will definitely see your loved ones again if you remained faithful.
but why did you pursue a course of life that had suddenly turned everything into a fable?.
i have pity for you all.. .

Peter Singer Atheist Champion "A Pig Is Worth More Than A Disabled Person!'"
by Bubblegum Apotheosis inrichard dawkins at a recent conference for atheist, told his followers to mock muslims and christians for their stupid beliefs!
we have been down the path of this kind of thinking dawkins, harris and peter singer promote, it lead to the near irradication of the jews, gypsies, disabled, mentally ill and any other undesirables who were not contributing to the greater good of hitler's, stalin's, pol pot and mao's ideals.. .
can we address the issue at hand, how would you debate peter singer's statement that a "pig is more valuable than a disabled child, human"?

At the library, there was a book on Hitler's regime. It had a photo of a beautiful, dark haired deaf boy of about 4 years of age, sitting on a 'nurse's' knee, the 'kindly' 'doctor' was holding a syringe. The 'nurse' and 'doctor' were getting ready to kill him because he was born deaf.
After seeing that photo, and the mere recollection of it now, made and makes me nauseated. It sends chills up my spine.
At what point is a disabled person considered to be worth less than an animal? Deafness? Blindness? Missing arms? I would hate to be forced to make that decision. If the person cannot communicate, does this mean they don't enjoy seeing flowers, smelling pizza, eating? If a person who is themselves ill and in pain makes a decision to end their own life, that is one thing...but to make the decision for someone else is another thing entirely.

Hospitality after Public Talk - ???
by RubaDub ini see a lot of mentions about hospitality after the public talk and honestly, i guess it is a practice that was not in the ny/ct area i grew up in or here in south florida today.. i grew up with an elder father and grandfather who gave public talks and were generally well-liked.
as a child, i never recall being invited to someone's house after the meeting.
granted, it was rare to travel more than an hour but regardless, it was typical to get in the car and head home after the "amens.

Band-the cong. I went to in the upper midwest did actually have gatherings in the basement, which was outfitted with a kitchen. That was stopped after a few times by the CO because it wasn't fitting use of the KH. What about the 'christian love feasts' of old, they used someplace, and probably where they were worshipping.
