Compilation of the bible and the NWT translation source.

hi,, i have a curious question about when the bible was actually compiled.

from what i understand it was actually compiled under emperor constantines request in the 4th century ad.

this was the nicene creed.. i also am aware that there quite a few books that were considered for inclusion but weren't.

I also am aware that there quite a few books that were considered for inclusion but weren't. Constantine commissioned eventaully 50 bibles to be written in Greek for his churches including the ones he built in Constantinopol. 2 bibles remain from this 50 and one is in the British museum minus a couple of pages.

Okay, I am hearing from a JW that she is a kin to the 1st Century Christians and she uses the NWT as her only true guide. Was there already a bible in use in the 1st century of just a collection of books loosely used by christians.

Which Greek Scriptures are the NWT actually translated from? I am trying to undertand a part of history which is really vital to the formation of a book that followers put their absolute faith in even though it was actually edited.......What is the WT teachigs on this matter and what is exactly true?? Is there a contradiction between historians and the JWs??

Identifying God and true religion

there is no doctrine required for kindness.. you can't get it "wrong".

there is no judgement.. there is nothing to memorize when putting your hand out to a suffering person.

the human touch on a fevered brow and the comforting squeeze of the hand is irrefutable.. you don't have to graduate from a seminary to offer a smile and ask somebody how they are---how they really are.. there are no grounds for debate or rebuttal in visiting the ill, the dying, the widowed or the orphaned.. .

this is my first post.

i have been a protestant christian my entire life, but over the past few months ive been conversing with two jehovahs witnesses on a weekly basis.

as they quickly learned that i was biblically versed, they replaced what i would call a trainee, with someone i believe to be an elder.

I find it rediculous that you entertain the JWs... they do not have any other source other than what the WTBTS provide. My wife is being drawn ever closer to baptism and she thinks that she knows it all and is officially trained although she knows not the technical Jargon or any other point of view other than that of the WT. I have very little knowledge of the bible and can quickly pick holes in something from the bible,... the fact is there is no room for compromise , they take no prisoners so if you feel like you are getting no where then that is true. You as an educated man perhaps needs to talk with and dicuss with more open and intellegent people than the JWs.

The other important thing you must consider...they are practicing on you Like my wife uses me to strengthen her beliefs... The more you resist them the hard they try.

Interesting fact I found out. The JWs say that things are getting worse..this is the end becuase of the way things are. Biblical issues maybe a strong point in the JWs camp but HISTORY is not. Most are really retarded on this subject. Ask who found a cure for small pox and they will not know. 1666 AD was the fire of London and was seen to be the end of it all because of the date number connection. They have no idea about the fequency of earthquakes on a daily basis of historical disasters famines plagues etc etc....... In the UK the Victorians made it law that children went to school, they provided milk to get rid of rickets which this diease plagued children.....where is it getting worse...?

apparently cain had a wife....where did she come from?

were the children involved in incest or were there other people outside the garden of eden?

Very good. Now dicussing this perhaps will have JWs looking back at their NWT books realising that Adam and Eve were not the first and only. Interesting. I am eager to research this some more then see what logical assumtions we can forge out that there were other races already inhabiting the earth. The WT will obiviously think that this is wrong? EDIT yes after a quick discussion the JW in our house hold believes we are all from the lineage of Adam and Eve...

I like the explainion from Paganistic writings. Thanks for posting...

Prayer

i am interested to know from other long time wittnesses if they had a hard time with prayer after leaving the organization?

when i left i found it so difficult to pray to "jehovah" and still do to this day.

i am always more comfortable with just "god".

It sounds almost like loosing a job in a fasion. Work provided for me everthing because we spent so much time there. Finding suddenly it is all gone is a real shock. Our place lost a contract and the place shut down. I keep in contact with my old work mates but its not the same. The shock of loosing my job made me look at how narrow my life had become so I decided to travel a bit, see parts of the world and relax for a while.

I came back home with new friends and lots of new stories. A fresh out look and realised that I'd changed while around me everyone was still doing the same things. I found I did not want to follow the same path and indeed some of the fears I'd had about changing had gone..

Excuse me for being uneducated on the bible, especially the Genesis. I though Adam and Eve were the only 2 created human beings by god. Apparently Cain had a wife....where did she come from? What was her name. Were the children involved in incest or were there other people outside the garden of Eden? If incest was the case then why did god allow it?

The NWT say that Adam and Eve had numerous children but how many?. Why doesn't the wife have a name whilst all the boys do?

These questions are definitely pointed because I am looking for some sort of leverage to cast doubts on certain aspects. I am Skeptical however bringing subjects like this up a JW always will find an answer to wriggle out of a question some how. What is the proper dubs stance on this?

I have been informed that this Cains wife issue is something to inspect. Can I use this as an arguement?

hi, this is my first post on this forum although i have been reading many posts on here.

i feel safe enough to ask your advice and become involved now......from what i have learned about this forum it is occupied by sensible people who have left the watchtower influences for one reason or another.

i am, for want of a better word, a none believer.
