  Your earliest doubt?

  this might be an unfair question for those who have been out of the organization for decades, but i'm wondering if any of you remember your earliest doubt -- maybe something odd that occurred to you as a kid (if you were a jw then).

  please try to limit to two doubts at the most :-).

  i think my first "doubt" was simply realizing that at the time of the flood, every animal that wasn't in the ark died (well, besides the fish, supposedly).

  1975. As a kid I hung on every word regarding '75. I was terrified. It wasn't enough of a doubt to make me wake up, I just tried to see it their way. Obviously I missed something and they were right, they had to be right, I always held on to "they can't be wrong, so there is more to it I just don't understand" but it never went away. Even gearing up to go back, 1975 was one of the issues I needed cleared up before going back. Of course I woke up instead, realized there was nothing wrong with me after all. There was nothing to clear up. They false prophecied.

  just had a couple of jws stop by my house.

  they had been before several times and know that i'm a pretty devout catholic, so i'm sure they were just swinging by to get more time for the card.. well, this time the opening line was about the tragedy in ct. i mean, really?

  you're going to try to get converts by capitalizing on this tragedy?

  There are pioneers who scan obits, so they can make special calls. There are those who go to grave yards to "preach" to the mourners. Etc. Swooping in on tragedy and grief is their specialty. Yes it's true, they are not the only "religion" to do so, but they are one of the few who go out of their way to "hook" people with it.
  
  As was said, it's not a new low, just their typical low. Someone said it best, "they are ambulance chasers"

  Do Witnesses Ever Talk About Their Living Forever And Never Dying?

  my 86 year old mother stopped believing she was going into paradise earth without dying first, about 10 years ago.

  my aunt used to think she was going to make it through the great tribulation.

  even a week before she died, she clung on to this fairy tale.. do you think jws believe they will never die at all and will, in their lifetime, be on a paradise earth to live forever?.

  I fully expected Armageddon to be already. I really had no reason to doubt that. Of course I never questioned it either.
  If I could go back and tell my younger self just ONE thing, that would be it. You ARE going to be old in this system, so get an education. haha
