just a quick thought - i am a firm believer in freedom of speech etc, but having been on this forum for some time i honestly can't say that i can introduce a doubting jw interested in true christianity to this board.

some of the deep discussions on jw doctrine are excellent, but everything else seems to be nonsense in my opinion.

why can't this site be more like the old www.witnesses.net which seemed to have more spiritual meat rather than backbiting, gossip, and rumour and even obscenity.. sorry for my frank opinion

i have been inspired to write this by the following quotes from various posters on a thread started by amnesian titled the ex-[elders] files: eyes wide shut.. the following was quoted by amnesian from various responses to a thread started by amazing titled: ex-jw women, your side.. thanks for asking!...thank you amazing for asking that question...just my 2 cents.

Fabulous post. As one of the people who knows me better than most, you know I respect you as an equal. Your gender is inconsequential to the respect I accord you.

We share the common value that respect is earned by decency. Disrespecting and not according equal rights to someone because of their gender is intolerable. Treat others decently and they will respect you.

Men who treat women badly simply because they are women are out and out bastards - shoot the dickheads!!

Women who claim equal rights, but then turn around and treat men in a defamatory way...obvious answer (let the reader use discernment).

Women who claim to be freed but then turn around and name call other women - just because the other women does not ACT like they do and choose to still be lady like and dignified - YOU ARE WORSE THAN THE MEN YOU VILLIFY.

I will be the first to stand up for female equality. But thats not what this discussion has been about lately. It has turned into a tirade against individual people under the guise of female equality.

I contribute to the Ayn Rand Society - for me she was one of the most brilliant philosophers ever. She came from a suppressed society, she was also suppressed because of her gender but she brought with her the most incredible logic on issues of freedom I have ever been privileged to read. She could have had an axe to grind against society in general and against men in particular....but she carried herself with class and argued her ideas with clarity. She earned the respect of millions by her ideas, her logic and her class.

Screen Name vs Character

since my character is part of the issues that have been addressed by several posters, i thought that i would clear this up:.

Don't bother coming back here. It is a waste of your time. Find some good friends and stick with them out of the public view. You should not have to justify your public existence.

My friend, you are trying to fight a battle that you just cannot win... While some might sincerely disagree with your ideas and those discussions are useful, the character assasination is just that - and it ain't worth it.

While they may then refer to you as a "coward" or use other such terms for refusing to engage them, who cares...do the smart thing.

Why not clearly examine what you want from this place. Is it idea exchange? Is it social support as in the chat room? If it is to debate with some of your current fellow contestants please realize there will be no winner...if they think there will be or if you think there will be....then perhaps we as outsiders need to know what it looks like when one of the sides actually wins.

Naturally occuring nuclear reaction

i know we are surrounded by them (ie.

stars) but i was listening to the radio yesterday and was amazed to hear that there was evidence that a nuclear reaction had occured naturally on earth at some point.. apparently, all the conditions that are neccessary were there - water to slow the neutrons down, a deposit of uranium for fuel and carbon to prevent a 'meltdown' happening.. they said it was in south africa somewhere (not sure if the county or the continent).

has anyone else heard of this?

So, Julie, which is it? Is it over or isn't it? I mean you were the wholly indignant one in chat going on and on about pursuing truth and fact....but here you have just proved untrustworthy (maybe you lied and are not the truth seeker you claim to be??)

Either way doesn't really matter to me...but you were the one who claimed to want this sorted out.

For the record, because even though I have explained this countless times to you, the "zzzzz" post was a post which I removed at TINA's (yes TINA, TINA, TINA...) request. I told YOU this numerous times - didn't I? Then why do you say "word has it that it was for Ladonna's benefit" that I removed it?

Please don't flatter yourself. My chatting name was definitely not assumed for the purpose of arguing with you. I am quite content to do so under any name...

So is it a truce or isn't it? One of three three things I see:

1. You lied about the truce
2. You are not as intelligent as you think you are
3. I am dumber than I think I am
