that was well put. the religions of the world could be prospering more than ever, but the jws would see that as even more a sign than ever that they are crumbling lol.

Why I think (in a nutshell) why this org is approaching collapse
by cptkirk inin a nutshell: i think that (and i do not enjoy thinking about this)...i think that the crazies within the religion (who range from just low level people to co elder do and up) have won so many battles at this point (over the more balanced people/ideas)......that the people who tend to think in a more balanced fashion (whether they themselves be low level or higher up) are getting to be the real minority.
i think this dynamic, will be what finally sinks the ship.. as we see with any organization (corporate or otherwise), many times there are reports that make you wonder (how is this thing alive or prospering?
), and upon closer scrutiny, there are strong people in the background holding the walls up (who themselves get little attention).

As we see with any organization (corporate or otherwise), many times there are reports that make you wonder (how is this thing alive or prospering?), and upon closer scrutiny, there are strong people in the background holding the walls up (who themselves get little attention). When those individuals in the background finally deteroriate (due to exasperation for obvious reasons)....the foundation begins to heavily weaken, and usually the crazies take this as a sign that they should get even crazier (because they have never even had a clue since day 1 to begin with).
This is the dynamic that I believe we will see go into high gear within the coming years. I really do not foresee reasonable people grabbing ahold of the wheel and correcting the course. Not that the course was ever correct to begin with, but at least it was sustainable on some level.
Obviously the first person who comes to mind is Ray Franz.
I know they have always been the minority, but when the ratio goes from 1:5 to 1:50, that will be the end.

Discipline or child abuse? Still going on in the hall?
by Pickler indoes anyone else remember all the discipline of children at the meetings?
i was just thinking how i never see anyone physically punish their children anymore.
growing up attending meetings there was a constant stream of children being taken out & hit, as well as all the whispered threats, arm squeezing, pinching etc.

she slapped her 18 year old daughter during the meeting? that sounds kinky to me. I've seen little kids dragged by their arms into the back while screaming, and then when they get to the back all you hear is more screaming and beatings. apparently they put the kibosh on that though, was too salient i guess....if nobody complained it would still be going strong i'm sure. there is some kind of hero worship of certain men, if they think a man is very spiritual, but he is also violent, in many cases , "the body" sort of has a voyeristic attachment to this. like, here is our savior, he is spiritual and violent so he will lead us to victory.....he'll lead you to the crazy house is where he'll lead you. but the rush feels soooooo good. nothing like a good christian man with veins coming out of his forehead and breaking tables while screaming the name of the lord, that is just a voyeristic orgasm baby.

It's amazing, these guys are too haughty to get the message. They were wrong on so many things there are literally too many to count....but on the issue of sending other human beings into oblivion, that one they know for sure that they have that one right. I picture in my mind a really bad NFL football coach who keeps losing games, but he assures the owners that these little things do not matter because he is right on the big things....only later to lose more games, and even embarrass himself further.
When all that hangs in the balance is a football game, that is one thing, when you are destroying people's entire lives, uhm, yea, that is something different. In fact, if the people who post on this board (with the right state of mind and right message)--not saying that i am always one of those--but if they were not to expose this madness, they themselves would be guilty of a crime. An elder explained to me one time that the "fear of god" is not that we are supposed to be terrified of god, but the fear of god means the fear of sitting on your hands and doing nothing, that if you fear god, you would be impelled to be the type of person who must take action.
I fear that you men at the top are standing on very thin ground, and are approaching a tipping point where you could actually see a mass exodus. This religion is not like other religions where people stick around because it's "touchy feely", this religion is militant, and people stay because of duty. If the leaders are dishonorable, then the duty of disseminating magazines and speaking on the podium all of the sudden turns into the duty of seeing that the org is shut down permanently.
HAHAHAHAHAAH but you can't because this is Jehovah's organization, oh? Let me ask you something, how many people/organizations do you know of in your lifetime that have come representing a product/a god/a message, that later you then later realized they did not in fact represent what they claimed to whatsoever?
If I start a Christian religion and then proceed to pillage and rape everything in my path, would you follow me? what if i showed your kids pictures of what happens to people that do not follow me? (ie. turning into salt)....what would you think? and then i told my kids "here kids, here are your crayons and now its time to color a woman being murdered" weeeee! no i'm not trying to insinuate this religion is raping and pillaging everything in its path, but the 2nd part does not require intimation, just follow the link in the topic.
There are some truly truly truly fucking wicked people in this religion. and some of the most "spiritual elders" that are at bethel(or at least served there)have agreed with me on that. so tell me, if god's will is being carried out, in terms of disfellowshipping and shunning and the rest of it, what the fuck are good people by the masses be turned out of the org, while these absolutely and insidiously wicked people are remaining in the organization? that you yourselves have admitted are inside the org? god just didn't get around to them yet? he's using them to get the weak spiritual people out? fucking insane.

Resigned being an elder
by subytrek ini am new here and this is my first post although i have lurked here for a couple years.
i started having doubts about the org back then and my curiosity overcame my fear of so-called apostate websites so here i am.
i just resigned being an elder 2 weeks ago.

As you probably know from reading this board you are not the first nor anything close to being the last. This organization will answer for its abuses and hypocrisy. I don't enjoy taking this stance either.

The CO asked for money tonight at the meeting.
by life is to short ini was shocked i do not know why as i have read that the co's were doing this but to hear it with my own ears was unbelievable.
i do not go to the meetings but my husband still does and this week is the co's visit.
i decided that i would listen in to his talk; i swear i have lost some brain cells by doing it but anywho.. he started out by talking about the old story that has been in the wt many times about a little boy who was seven and raised a chicken and gave the money to the society.

i was surprised, right before i left, a guy was giving a sunday talk and used an illustration that i thought was pretty good. so after the meeting i was talking to him and i said, yea i thought that illustration was pretty good.....do you know what he said? as i cannot remember verbatim, he said something to the effect of "yea they give us a bunch of them on a list and then we can just pick which we want to use".....was like wow, that sounds very...impressive.

Forum Owner and Member Integrity
by Simon insome people recently raised concerns about security of the site relating to whether forum members could be watchtower plants trying to obtain information about people.
apparently, this was because a previous forum that was setup was either owned by or later handed over to someone who used it to collect personal information about people which was then used to harrass them.
i don't know all the details, i'm just paraphrasing what i've heard and recognize that it's a concern to some people.. i want to first of all put people's minds at rest: i've been running this site for what will be 13 years next month.

Wise words Jgnat. In retrospect, I am very thankful that I was seen here with a great deal of suspicion, realizing that if I had divulged the kind of information that I may had (if otherwise not seen in this manner).....I may be dealing with twice the amount of shit that I would have otherwise. Right now I'm standing on probably the most important decision of my life....the decision that I make at this point will not only effect the rest of my life, but the rest of many other people's lives as well. I wish I could say more, because it would be great to make light of an issue that is breaking my back. On the one side there is the selfish and vain choice, on the other is the altruistic and humble choice. It always seems to come down to 50/50 (which leaves no mathematical decision going one way or the other). I believe most people on this website are good people, unfortunately sometimes good people do bad things. when people have been dealing with the paranoid culture of WT, you can see why privacy is a good thing to ensure here.

First [brief] conversation w/elder for years
by AK - Jeff inin my area, i am labeled an 'active apostate', among other things i am sure.
i live in a very small town, and bump into elders who hate me beyond words.
if they could, i am sure they would gladly stone me before the entire villiage while chanting 'apostate, apostate.'.
