dubstepped, my little boy wanted to know about the conversation, so I explained as much he would understand, and he started crying when he heard that his grandpa doesn't think I know very much. He said, " But Mommy, you read so much more than I do!" My husband and I are working hard to help him to respect women as equals. At least something positive may come out of all this!

we live in a different state, but i came to find out that one of the elders in our hall called my father, who he never met, to see why our meeting attendance had been so sporadic (i am in my mid-40's, so that knowledge made my blood boil, to put it mildly!
i tried not to answer, but he kept pressuring me, so i brought up the arc and child abuse cases i had heard of in our area.

I tried not to answer, but he kept pressuring me, so I brought up the ARC and child abuse cases I had heard of in our area. He of course said, "Don't worry about it, Jehovah will take care of it!" I said, " Well, he hasn't done anything for the past 65 years, so maybe someone else should!" I also said that I had watched the ARC myself, to dispel any ideas he would have about my exposure to apostate ideas. He just dropped it and didn't continue the conversation.
So, today my family visited us, and my father put his arm around me, did the whole elder stance, elder voice thing, and said, "Remember the conversation we had a few weeks ago about child abuse, well, one thing you have to be careful of is where you get your information from. You can't always believe what you read! Besides, I asked your brother (a Bethelite), and he hasn't heard a thing about it!" I told him that I watched it live streamed from the RC website, and you can't get any more accurate than that! Seriously!!!! I nearly lost my mind!!! How could I be such a stupid, uninformed female! (I actually do have a college degree, but he is in denial about that as well, because he thinks my husband should be the breadwinner & I should be the submissive, stay at home Mom).
So, I think this may be the response we'll continue to get about all of the WT's recent developments, at least for a while. There will come a point when it will be impossible to deny, though. It can't come soon enough!

Thanks for posting, cha ching, I hadn't read that letter before. I can't help but think that Trey's investigations might play into what's happening now with WT. In his interview in February he said that he had contacted the Dept of Justice re: the 24,000 child abuse cases that came to light in the Lopez case last year. I wonder if there is something happening related to that... -

Latest rumor - all WT construction "suspended", except for Warwick
by sir82 inheard 4th-hand, but from a full-on believer, so not likely to be an "apostate lie":.
apparently, at bethel's morning worship this morning, it was announced that all worldwide wts construction is "suspended" for an indefinite time, except for the new world headquarters at warwick.. also, the "relocation" of remote translating teams is also suspended.. finally, there will be a "worldwide" reduction in bethel personnel.. all this came to me in a non-english language, and,as noted, 4th-hand.
so it is possible something may have been lost in translation and/or in the multiple steps between bethel morning worship & me.. but if true, it would be quite stunning.

I wonder if there is more going on behind the scenes with the ARC than we know of, or if there are further investigations coming up in the US. All speculations of course....but it will be interesting to see what transpires in the news over the next few weeks.

Steve2, I think Trey's main point was to tie together different occurrences where "theocratic warfare" was used by Bethel "heavy's" & the GB to lie before authorities, calling into question their overall credibility and widespread use of lies to protect paedophiles. Since the ARC didn't get the same publicity in the US, it is still new information to many, and since we don't have an RC in the US, many of us wouldn't know what type of authority an RC actually has. -

I'm not so sure a bigger awakening is going to happen anymore
by bradford inwhen i left in march officially i started reading the forums here.
i had this excitement that more people would be leaving soon because of the crazy broadcasts, the crazy "new light" that the gb was dishing out, and more recently the australian royal commission lighting up geoffrey.
this past saturday i had an elder stop by to chat for the first time since i left.

I agree with The Rebel. Every post that causes someone to examine their beliefs makes a difference. While I don't think the whole organization will crumble, I think continued media attention may eventually make it easier for faders, because those in the org will have clearer evidence as to why some choose to leave. I would love to see front page news all across the US that says "Jehovah's Witnesses Child Abuse Cases Rival the Catholic Church" or something like what happened with the ARC. @ least maybe then they'd leave us alone. Freedom of religion does allow those who want remain JW's to do so, but it also allows us to leave without being harassed & marginalized! -

Psychology: Sick of Elder Low tone slow paced talk
by Aprostate Exam innow after 21 years in professional psychology/humanities, i love talking to brothers that adopt a slow pace in speech, and low tone of voice when they deal with the rank and cold un-associated ones.
my mirroring their present state in personality seems to psych them out for a bit.
i then tap into my fast injection of logical sense, that throws them off.

It's the lowering the head, crossing the arms across the chest, taking a breath, like they're really thinking hard about a reply, and then speaking in a slow deliberate tone that drives me over the edge. It's so predictable, and it's aim is to make you feel like an idiot, so to mimic it in return is priceless!
