Mandatory Reporters of Child Abuse
by Dissonant15 inall states in the us mandate health care workers and teachers to report suspected child abuse to law enforcement.
this year our commonwealth expanded the law to include clergy, and to include a mandatory two hour training on what to look for and how to report, required for all mandatory reporters.. my coworker at the hospital said she and her husband did the training together, because her husband volunteers in the sunday school at the church, they required him to take it too.
i asked several witnesses when this law came into effect if all the elders and ms are going to be taking the training and everyone looked at me like i was an alien and they had no idea what the heck i was talking about.

Aside from the importance of getting mandatory reporting made into law in all states, I can't believe elder's don't report just because it's the right thing to do. Their ability to do the right thing is nonexistent! They've turned into robots!! -

Child Discipline, new article to address Jackson's Royal Commission testimony
by jwfacts ini have published a new article at watchtower corporal punishment, as a response to the testimony that geoff jackson gave at the royal commission.
it includes the relevant part of the transcript, along with a string of watchtower quotes to show that what he presented was not accurate, and that watchtower translates rod as a literal implement to hit children with.

Sad Reality...
by JW_Rogue in...is that most jws don't know anything about the financial news that is happening right now.
sure it has trickled down to the elders and those who volunteer for construction but the average jw has no idea.
no one in my hall has said a thing about it.

I agree, JW_Rogue. Even after my parents talked about Bethel layoffs tonight, they still think it's Jehovah's direction. I don't think there's any way to permeate the wall around them, no matter how much I hope for it. -

It was one of the most spiritually uplifting books I've read, along with a few books written by the Dali Lama. I think you can receive spiritual insights from many places, you just have to be open to them. I also think that, if there is a God, he or she has revealed himself in many places, since different people are drawn to different things. -

I agree that it was slightly "sappy", but the thought that everything will be alright in the end was really helpful. I thought of it because of the mass shooting in Oregon. It helped me to deal with the fact that everyone is broken in some way, & that maybe someday we'll all be OK, not just the 1% who are JW's. -

Our CLAM meeting (vid): SELF-NEGATION is the first "treasure" from first meeting segment
by Gilgamesh inin the first sample video of the clam meeting (christian life and ministry) at about 5 minutes, 50 seconds in, a brother (steven phillips) is assigned the first segment of the new meeting, "treasures from god's word.
" ( http://tv.jw.org/#video/vodstudio/pub-jwbrd_201510_5_video ).
he shows just how sloppy the wts still is at trying to explain the deeper meanings of scriptures.

It might seem like a minor point, but it's common to high control groups to try to emphasize that the members are "sheep" even to the point of "sheepishness" when it comes to speaking out against wrong or bad decisions.
I think it's ridiculous and also scary that people with knowledge, men or women, are expected to keep quiet. I'm a nurse, and I'm expected to speak up if I know something is wrong, even if my superior happens to be a cardiothoracic surgeon. Also, if we are in the middle of performing CPR, everyone works as a team, regardless of what letters we have after our names. I feel like the hierarchy is so much more of a "thing" in the Borg than in the real world where we actually accomplish real things!
