Daniel, all the things Undecided says are true. I was hoping you would research it and read that for yourself, but as long as that information goes into your head, that is the important thing.
Wishing you well, regardless.

hi everyone, i have been "lurking" for a week or so and thought i'd join the fun.
i am a third generation jw who was determined not to make my kids the fourth!
my husband and i left almost five years ago and have never looked back and as a result have never been happier.. just a quick summary of the past thirteen years.... i never went to college (never even considered it) and was married two weeks after graduating from high school.
Hi Ozzie........yep.....I'm a proud Mom. I have three sons too!
I doubt if they will post though.
One is a 'Christian', God help us. ha ha ha. Very sweet young man though.......getting married next month to the Pastor's daughter......deliver me, PLEASE!!!
Just remembered: My husband has a sign in his office that says "Jesus, deliver me from your followers". Funny, eh? Okay, all you Christians out there. Don't jump all over me. Think about it and you will understand what it means. We just HATE being proseletyzed. (I know that must be spelled wrong)
Hi Daniel. RUN as fast as you can, in the other direction. You have no idea what you are getting yourself into. It is a destructive cult, like no other I have ever seen. They are quick to tell you it isn't a cult, but it definitely is one. A book I recommend is by Steven Hassan, called Combatting Cult Mind Control. You should be able to buy it at any Christian book store.
You also need to get a book that tells you some of the main JW beliefs, and things they do NOT believe or participate in. One thing a strict JW will not do, is date and marry a non-JW. I assume this is why you want to become one.
The reasons we left are multiple, and complex, and have to do with their teachings not being Bible based, as they convince you they are. The history of the organization is tainted, which taints the whole thing. "rotten apple......barrel".........you know the analogy.
I hope this has answered some of your questions. Yes, we are bitter and angry, because all of us are damaged, and many of us raised our children in this thing, so damaged them too. Don't do it!!!
Edited to correct spelling.

Hey Princess: Love your sign off line!!! Very appropriate.
a significant number of former jehovah's witnesses come out of the watchtower still believing the bible and considering themselves christians.
most coming out are in a serious state of bewilderment, and they look intently and sincerely for something to fill the huge void of lost religion, lost family and friends, and lost fellowship.
they seek some viable spiritual association with others of like mind while at the same time having become very wary of any organized religion.. what is it that eventually draws so many of us (not me) to agnosticism or atheism?
<<<Pathofhorns said: Further, as a JW, most have been convinced that ALL religions besides JWs are WRONG and CORRUPT. Once you realize that the JW religion is also this way, one feels there is NOTHING in the way of ORGANIZED religion that is GOOD. Eventually most private study becomes organized, which is a distasteful thing to most JW's.>>>
This is basically what happened to me, with one added factor: I was so attached to the RELIGION, that it was one and the same as GOD. When the religion died, so did my God. But, like Jan said, I am finding my way back. NEVER to a religion though. It is all just a turn off. I feel that they are basically all the same, with the JW's a little more disgusting........possibly because I know so much more about them that I do about others.
For awhile I was attending an informal Bible discussion with others like myself, at the home of another like us. I enjoyed it about 1/3 of the time, depending on who was there, for the most part. Eventually I quit going because it was getting 'too organized' for my taste. It was turning into a 'religion', sort of, although the others sure don't agree with me.
Amazing, you made some 'amazing' points.

Princess is a doll, and very smart, with a brilliant, talented, gorgeous husband. (just building everyone up, here)
DB: I haven't seen the Mulan movie!! I picked the name because it was kind of similar to Marilyn, my real name. At the time, I wanted to be anonymous. Now I think I should have picked "Melon". Lots of people call me that, anyway. I also used to say that people who left the organization, ended up with messed up lives. I kept waiting for it to happen to my brother, 25 years ago. He was messed up when he got out, BECAUSE of them. THEY caused the death of his wife (blood issue)!!
some of us were discussing the other day the 'advantages' and 'disadvantages' of disassociating from the witnesses as against being disfellowshipped (for apostasy).. it seems from reading various experiences that most departing borgites choose to send in a letter of disassociation.
for them it saves the 'hassle' of being harrassed by the modern-day philistines, the elder class.
it also saves, to some extent, the reputation of the exdub.
Yeah, we aren't df'd or da'd either, and a few months ago, I ran right into a woman, whose marriage my husband performed, and I smiled, and said "Hi, Joanne". She walked past, with her nose in the air, as if I were invisible. Everyone around us, in the store looked at her like she was really weird. I wanted to tell them "she really is." We are definitely FA's too.
AlanF: Did you know Princess is my daughter? She looks just like me but much thinner, and a bit taller.

Welcome sweetie!! Glad you finally posted. I have to add that the Princess, here, is my daughter, as she said, and has two gorgeous red haired children.
Also, her husband is nine years older, so she didn't marry a teenager, right out of high school. I just had to clarify that.
I like the name you picked. Hmmm. I wonder why.
Mummy (Mulan)
these signs are ready for immediate duplication.
(the bottom one entitled flyer is in actually dimensions.
) its 3x 4. it was done at fast signs which is a nationwide chain, (sign-a-rama or any other sign company can make these for you).
We are wondering if you guys are going to go to the conventions there, and walk around with the signs?
thought you all would enjoy this.. i went to a b'day party for a friend who is a bible-thumper in the worst way!
(10x worse than most jw).. i'm sitting around like a zombie while everyone is talking about how "blessed" they are to "know christ" blah blah blah blah blah.. then my interest got peaked as one of the women started quoting scripture talking about how the reason her life is blessed is that her great great grandmother was a russian mennonite blah blah blah and the bible says that god will bless your offspring if you come to know him.
blah blah blah.. so i start asking a few well placed questions like "well what does that mean for the poor muslim sop whose great great grandmother was a muslim?
JustAThought: Try a modern English Bible. Geez! Who can understand all that middle ages English.
