There are slanderous comments about some of these "apostates." I wonder if they know.

Does the "Faithful and Discreet Slave" have a free pass to be able to judge others
by I_love_Jeff init seems we have a contradicition here:.
"determining whether someone has gone far enough to be guilty of gross uncleanness or loose conduct is a serious responsibility, for lives are involved.
those judging such cases should do so prayerfully, asking god for his holy spirit, discernment, and understanding.

The answer to your question is a matter of opinion, of course. I think those who claim to be the F&DS believe they have a free pass to judge or do anything else to ruin other people's lives.
I do not agree. And the "purity" nonsense needs to go! JW's are no more "pure" than anyone else.
No one but God has any right to judge anyone else. It is incumbent upon each of us to accept our fellow human beings, treat them all the same and respect them all the same, and leave the sifting and judging up to God or Jesus or whoever has that assignment (who is no human being or other earthly being).

They say we want people to follow us. I don't, and I don't think most people here are looking for "followers."
However, if you wish to send me your money, I am willing to accept it.

In college, I took some Religion classes. One of our most esteemed professors said that if we wanted to find the great religious thinkers of today, we woould need to go to a mental institution. The people in the Bible who were the leaders were looked upon as weirdos, Jeremiah for example.
The Watchtower Society says most of the people who post here are "mentally diseased" because we no longer believe in them. If you want friendship and support, we have it and give generously.
If you want to become a JW, this is the wrong place. We care about you, whatever your decision, and you are welcome here. But you need to contact someone at a different site to start a Bible study and start attending meetings.
Best wishes.

The Objectors have Taken Over
by Marvin Shilmer inthe objectors have taken over.
today i published a new article underscoring how far removed current watchtower leadership is from yesteryears leaders.
what got a person disfellowshipped by watchtower in 1981 is embraced by its current top leadership.

Maybe the narcissists at the top should just admit that it is the "apostates" who really have the holy spirit, or, at least, they have it before the GB does.

Funny but kind of sad story
by troubled mind inmy youngest son (26yrs old) told me the other day that his barber told him a funny story .. it seems the barber use to be the janitor at the local grade school ,and one day he came into the office and noticed this little red headed boy sitting in there .
now the man said this was a busy day for the little kids ,holiday parties going on in the class rooms so he was curious as to why this little guy was just sitting in the office ...so the janitor asked the secretary what was up with that ?
.....then he said the little red headed kid speaks up loudly ,"i hate being a witness !!

That's great!
My daughter, when she was in kindergarten, told her dad and me, "I wish we celebrated." She wanted Santa to bring her lots of toys like the other kids got. Now she goes totally overboard for holidays and birthdays!

This is my first time. Please be patient.
by Miss.Fit ini have never posted before.
i have been lurking for a few days and have decided to give it a try.
the subject of child abuse caught my eye.

Miss.Fit, what a nightmare! Have you had professional counseling? You're no longer a JW, are you?
What you have bee through is inexcusable. You and your siblings should contact an attorney and sue the FP's. I don't know how old you are or how long ago all of this happened, but it sounds as though you really have a case.
Meanwhile, be thankful you survived, and build the best life you can for yourself. Living well is the best revenge, truly.

I participated in the Silentlambs March in Brooklyn in 2003.
I went to London to do a Silentlambs protest there as well. One other person (who used to post here as "dungbeetle") and I were all who participated.

Does God really have a personal name?
by XPeterX inthe bible says that the personal name of god is jehovah/yahweh/jah etc.thing is,we don't know it's correct pronounciation (or the pronounciation of any hebrew name).the name jehovah as we know it today means "he causes to become".someone who causes something to become is just called "creator" or "maker".right?he gave that name to his self so that people or the angels could call him by a name.also, how was he called before the creation of the anything?how can some people claim to be his friends if they don't know his actual name?discuss.

One of my favorite books, the Tao te-Ching, says at the very beginning:
The name that can be named is not the eternal name,
The nameless is the origin of heaven and earth.
To give something or someone a name makes it common and ordinary. It is impossible to give a name to the entity from which all life emanates. It is far beyond anything so mundane.
