  i just started taking a few college classes.

  and i'm finding it hard to figure out topics to argue about.

  thinking for myself and forming my own opionions about certain subjects.

  I suggest extensive reading and watching YouTube videos with differing opinions and perspectives so you can figure out what makes sense to you. I had a philosophy class in college in which the professor was the facilitator, and we had some heated discussions. What fun! I loved college! When you learn what your priorities are and what you want to do and start living your life for yourself, you will be truly alive!

  When you write college papers, you need to take a stand and make good arguments for your stand. Good luck with your studies!

  Advice on fading needed

  these 2 options are before me right now-.

  1. write a letter to the elders and my family, not da myself but basically saying i have too much going on in my life and am confused, so that they will stop bothering my wife and stop asking me questions all the time.

  after i write the letter continue to go to the hall less and less.... 2. appease my wife.

  You have to do what's right for YOU! If you have to pretend to be ill, do that. You could start seeing a mental health professional and tell the elders you have mental health issues "right now" and can't attend meetings because you can't focus or comprehend what they're saying. You have a wife, and she should be considered, but not to the point of forcing yourself to live an inauthentic life. Only you know what is right for yourself. I would hate to see you write that letter, whcih would be playing by their rules and not your own. I hope you don't have children.

  Would JWs Really Drink The Kool Aid?

  if push came to shove and it was a showdown for loyalty to the organization or not following whatever decrees coming heir way, what percentage would remain loyal to the organization?

  In the real live example when Jim Jones' followers drank the Kool-Aid, they were not given a choice. If they didn't drink it, they were injected with it. He started with the children so the parents would not want to go on. Only a few people survived; i.e., about three people ran and hid in the jungle, and one old lady hid under her bed. If that day comes for the JW's, I can visualize their leaders setting up a similar scenario so that everyone has to drink the Kool Aid and has no choice in the matter.

  Let's hope that day never comes.

  the whole article makes me ill with its worse than average mind control.. i was going to only include one quote but there are so many doozies that i will post what i feel to be the worst.. from paragraph 6.

  "gods organization survives and flourishes on earth because the people who are part of it have his approval.".

  the great tribulation has been "so close" for over 120 years of wt history.

  I love my life, I don't want to die

  hello everyone..... i've been thinking a lot lately, when i have a chance to be alone my mind immediately comes to the topic at hand-- i don't want to die.

  what would happen to my precious little girls?

  but i'm so scared that it's going to happen.

  To some degree at least, I think your fears may be normal. I remember thinking about many things that could go wrong when I was pregnant. But everything turned out fine. i'm sure your therapist has heard much worse than what you're saying. If you trust her/him, open up to her/him. Your anxiety and stress could be hard on your children, too. If you need to leave the kids with a family member for a few hours so you can relax, meditate, or work through some issues, do it!

  Fear is crippling. You are not really "alive" if you're fearful all the time. If it would help you to pray, don't worry about it. Do it. Do whatever (as long as it's legal and moral) you need to do to feel better. Your therapist should be able to help you figure out the root of your insecurities. Do you have worries about having enough money to support yourself and your children? Are you anxious about the well being of your children?

  i was reminded by this weeks wt study of hab.

  1:2,3. while in the fs as a jw we are trained to look for those sighing and groaning much like habakkuk.

  is it not this same group, ones dissatisfied except with the wbts, that we might best be able to reach and wake up to ttatt.

  I misread your post, but I think what I replied is worth saying anyway. Here it is:

  It's quite simple: the disenfranchised are vulnerable. When people are "sighing and crying," it is probably because they have trouble being able to feed their families and just survive in general. These people are sitting ducks for spiritual charlatans. A lot of people have been lonely and depressed when a JW knocks at their door and starts the fairy tales.

  Now to the real post: If people are unhappy with their life in the borg, they are brainwashed and fearful. They may be even harder to reach in some cases because of that fear and cognitive dissonance.

  we all know jehovah's witnesses/gb through their approved publications teach to marry "only in the lord.".

  well this is simply impossible for the rank and file.

  they are not considered in jesus or part of his body which is exactly what that.

  Been asked to share my experience at church!!

  my vicar asked me if i and another lady would like to say a few words about our faith journey.. she said my story was a particular powerful one, what with the da'ing and subsequent shunning.

  i can also choose a hymn or christian song.. i was thinking of romans 8:38, 39 to highlight the shunning and the other scripture ne of how true christians will be indentified, if they have love among themselves etc.

  i need to look that one up exactly.. any ideas for content for further content??.

  Tell them to be kind to the dubs at the door. Being unkind feeds their persecution complex and makes them more certain that they're right. I remember so many people who were kind to me; some even gave me a drink of water or tea. I am grateful to those wonderful "worldly" people.
