Divorcing my husband of 13 years...

my husband and i were both born ins.

i left in 2009, and he followed me out a bit later.

we were one of those couples who followed the script, married young and ended up having nothing in common other than the religion.

My best recommendation is that you go to the nearest community college and talk with someone there about taking some vocational interest tests and personality tests to determine what kind of work you're best suited for.

In the meantime, will you be able to stay in your home? Will you be able to stay there AND collect child support? Do you have family members and/or good friends who can help you care for the kids?

When I lived in Reno, Nevada, my daughter attended the community college. There's was actually a Boys' and Girls' Club on campus where parents could leave their kids while they attended classes. The same college had a women's re-entry program for women in circumstances such as yours.

Help is available. Please start talking to people and find out which direction would be best for you and your kids.

Failure

so tonight just sucks ad i just want to vent to people who don't know me irl.. my wife and i have two kids.

i was still in when we got together but my wife never was.

when we actually got married i moved out of my parents place and never went back to a kingdom hall again.

I understand that there are a lot of children coming in to the U.S. from Central America, and many of them are probably eligible for adoption. Have you looked into this. Do you live in the U.S.? There are so many children needing homes that I hope you don't give up on adoption. Have you talked to a social worker in your area?

I loathe authority

now i'm not preaching hatred here i am just expressing how i've felt for years even when i was a jw.. i totally loathe the police/policticians...any authority......anyone that is over anyone else.

i have a total hatred of them all.

i wonder if it's because i was raised a jw?.

The only people who need "authority," IMHO, are out-of-control people, mostly teenagers. Office holders and emergency personnel alike are there to look out for the best interests of the people, not to be arrogant and heavy handed.

When I was growing up, I lived with my grandparents until I was 11. They were not authoritarian, and I came to understand that their "rules" were put in place to protect me from harm, not to let me know who's boss. Then I had to go live with my sperm donor and egg donor, who were just the opposite. I still have issues about them.

I am now my own authority, and I usually know what is appropriate and inappropriate without consulting anyone. If I do consult anyone, it won't be someone with "authority."

feeling sad

the past number of months have been traumatic for myself and my family.. the fascist practices of the wts have wreaked monumental harm to us all - with 3 members hospitalized for suicide.. researching past events brings one to the overwhelmingly sad story of bethany hughes, and her parents lawrence and arliss.. (arliss was featured years later on a dc for her courage through their ordeal.).

it is doubly sad knowing personally one of the wts lawyers involved, and his relatives who have left the wts despite the harsh consequences.. sometimes, i wish there were a "dante" hell.. .

always dress in the jw manner...no variation in clothing / hair styles / facial hair.

In the picture of someone placing something in the contribution box, look closely at the item being put into the box. Is that a lottery ticket? It has a barcode. My mondy doesn't have bar codes. My lottery tickets do. Hmmmmm.

Is the Watchtower a secret society?

does the watchtower teach that keeping secrets is ok?

does its leadership believe that the advancement of the organization hinges on holding back truthful information from prospective members and others who are not in leadership positions?

do you believe that the organization as a whole has a global agenda?

The WT Society does its best to control the amount ant type of information its adherents have access to. Most rank-and-file JW's have no idea about the extent of child sexual abuse in their religion. They might know of one or two cases and see them as isolated incidents, not a source of serious WT income loss. Many of them are not aware of the false prophecies of the past or other historical information about their "religion." The Society also keeps its controversial doctrines (i.e., shunning, no blood transrusion, no saluting the flag, no birthdqay or holiday celebrations, etc.) from the public. I've met people who tell me JW's are just weirdos, but nothing to worry about.

Their central doctrine is that "God's kingdom" is about to take over the earth soon, any minute now. You'd think people would get weary of this false promise, but the WT is very clever about keeping the carrot in front of them but never giving it to them.

In short, they are a somewhat dangerous cult, but mostly to children. JW schoolchildren need real support and understanding. They're innocent and have no idea they're being duped, even if they're being molested.

Muslim loses contract because of his religion

today i interviewed an it company to support my business run from home.. .

the doorbell rings and i ask my girlfriend to answer the door.. .

i meet a trendy young woman and a hip muslim.

Years ago, I worked in hotel reservations in Nevada. In the department next to ours (hotel management), there was a female supervisor over a male Muslim employee. He, the Muslim, had serious issues about being supervised by a woman. He finally quit or got fired. I just remember that one day he wasn't there, and this is the story I was told.

Being non-discriminatory religiously is a tricky business. In the book entitled The Orwellian World of Jehovahs's Witnesses, a case is presented in which a young jW woman worked for a gynecologist. She turned a "sister" who had an abortion in to the elders. I don't know the end result or this story, or even if it is related in the book. The point of the story, of course, is tht religious discrimination might be justifiable in some cases.

If you haven't watched the movie Persepolis, I recommend you go to Youtube and do so. It is about educated Muslims and the fact that they know some of their teachings are BS. I recall in particular a scene in which a mother is trying to keep her son from joining the military. She states that he was given a plastic key to open the "door to paradise."

So, usualusername, you may think the guy was a jerk, but, like a JW, he thought he was being "righteous."

It's my birthday today

... but most of my new (post jw) friends either don't know my birth date (if people don't specifically ask i won't tell them), or they are 2500 kilometers away in the netherlands... so all that's left to celebrate with me are my hubby, the two doggies, cat and my two rabbits... mixed feelings, i miss my friends and family around and haven't found friends in spain yet.

luckily our daughter will visit us the end of the month... and yesterday we've found a new rental house and we're moving into it next month already!

i'm thrilled and really looking forward to it, then we will finally be able to let all the rest of our belongings come to spain (2/3 of our stuff is stored in the netherlands).. so with this in mind, i'll just say 'happy birthday to me' and will enjoy my third birthday in espana .
