  They have been after me. This was about 20-21 years ago. I was polite. I evaded answering questions I did not want to answer. My minor child was still exposed to JW indoctrination. I went to meetings in order to see her and so that my ex would think I was still "interested in the truth." I did what I felt I had to do at the time.

  If they were after me now, I would keep a recording device loaded at all times, get down every filthy word they said. I would not meet with them without independent witnesses and/or an attorney. If they kept harassing me, I would file charges. I would tell them that there is nothing regarding me that is any of their business. If they wouldn't go away, I would call the police.

  are you good enough to attend an international 2003 district conventions?.

  other threads have brought up the subject of the planned 2003 district conventions ( http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=34494&site=3 ), but do you qualify to attend a convention in another land?.

  according to the official letter, no one is to make private travel arrangements but must go through the official channels.

  This being "qualified" to attend a "public" meeting reminds me of the Mormons' rule of being "worthy" of a "temple recommend."

  I thought Christian theology told us that we are all unworthy, that only by grace ("undeserved kindness" in the JW vernacular) do we have any standing before God whatsoever.

  hi, I'm incense's son...need help

  i know that my mom frequents these boards a lot, she says it has really helped her deal with her pain caused by the jw's.

  i figured maybe you could help me out too.. i'll start by saying that i'm fifteen, and that i am in an unfavorable situation concerning my relationship with a witness.

  my mom doesn't feel comfortable with me talking to this person, and she says that it is a bad thing to be talking to her.

  I believe in freedom of association. However, since you are so young, it might be a good idea to respect your mother's wishes. My biggest issue with the JW's has always been the way their children have to suffer; and this was before I knew about the apparently widespread child molestation that goes on within the org. I recommend that you be kind and supportive to your JW friend, as she probably has no real friends except you and other "worldly" associates she might have. However, maintain a certain distance and don't believe anything she tells you on face value. She is brainwashed and lives in constant fear of losing everyone and everything she holds dear. That is the life of a JW.

  Medical science, mathematics, engineering -- all "myths perpetrated by 'the man'" and, sometimes, "the woman." Stringing words together that make no sense is not communicating any more than insisting that 2+2=7 is sound mathematics.

  Go study your mythology. It will help you.

  it truly amazes me to see how so many jw's are brain dead.

  i spent the last few days with some witnesses and they complained about this elder, that congregation,these rules that are enforced in one congregation but not another, how truly boring the meetings are, how holy spirit could not have appointed brother so-and-so.

  i heard how an elder in a nearby congregation is really a thief and a liar.

  Were there two independent witnesses? How were they able to determine tongue placement? The guy you kissed was too close to your own age to qualify you for a cover-up versus reproof.

  Stupid parent tricks

  as a child when i would cry (a big no no in our family).

  my dad would say" if you keep crying i will give you a reason to cry".

  if we spoke at the dinner table, he would reach across the table (did'nt matter how far away you were..his arm seem to grow) he would thump our heads as hard as he could(leaving a bruise).

  We were not allowed to feel our feelings. In fact, it seemed that we were punished more severely for feelings than for behaviors. I won't go into detail, but there is a lot of mental illness in our family which caused a lot of suffering for the kids.

  I am more concerned with my inadequacy as a parent. I was not as vile as my parents were, but I know that my daughter had a terrible time because of my inability to do what I wanted to do for her. Being a JW parent was a nightmare, and one of the reasons why I had to get out of the org. I could not stand by and see my child not develop her gifts and talents. I would not have wished the life I had on my worst enemy, to say nothing of my own precious child. I knew that if we remained JW's, she would be a brainless drone as I was, or she would have to rebel, risking her safety. She still had to rebel because her dad remained a JW. But she got out and is about to graduate from college in December.

  Now, there's my granddaughter.....

  What pisses you off about elders wives?

  the elders wife that really pisses me off, is the one that would boastfully announce that jehovah had provided her husband with a part-time teaching job, emphasising that his employment was "on the line" each year....but thanks to jehovah,(in other words) we are so fucking loyal and do many hours in field service and things that nobody could possibly know about ( but i'm letting you know indirectly) so my husband has an income to assist us in our pioneer service!

  Women should be silent in the congregation?

  okay, since i've been attending a new church, i've had the opportunity to sit on three committees.

  i've gone hog wild and volunteered for everything trying to make up for all the years that i couldn't do anything as a female in the kh.

  anyway, last night i stirred the shit in one of the meetings by voicing my opinion on how something in the church is run.

  It's time for the silence to end. Women in church need to speak out. We keep the church going, in terms of membership, attendance, and doing all of the work nobody else wants to do. Our Mother in Heaven is ashamed of us.
