  i’m reservations, pimo elder.

  i’m in no position to leave the organisation, maybe some people will see that as weak or whatever, but we have to all go down our own path in life.. i would like to be able to wake people up in my congregation, how do you think best to do this?

  Point out that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. But the Watchtower is not.

  I left in 1979. It's not the same religion today that it was when I left,

  Ask if the publisher is a better person today than before they became Jw.

  i saw it on a youtube video of "60 minutes australia, he was formerly a "jehovah's witness minister" according to the video.

  he has bought a large tract of land, with the help of his followers.

  I used to live in Las Vegas. I play video multi-card keno. I once won about $8,500 on a 4-card machine. My friend, now deceased, Myra Walery, taught me a good system. I was playing 70s along the bottom row. I layer my numbers, so I hit a 7 spot, 6 spot, 5 spot, and 4 spot all in one play. Choose a set of numbers, and stick with them, and you're likely to win at least sometimes. I have hit many smaller payouts on video keno.

  I used to play draw poker. I like the game, but the payoff in keno is much larger,

  I have friend who was disfellowshipped and shunned

  I know that no one in my previous congregation could score even what an average 8th grader could on the ACT or SAT. I think we should have sample ACT's and SAT's to give them when they come to the door so they can show off their "vast knowledge."

  interesting report in a oxford university blog - the world is becoming less religious, (hurray!!!).

  Personally, I find religion as distasteful and many of you. However, having grown up in the Southern Highlands, I can see its usefulness for many.

  There are lots of people living down here who, without religion, would be doing greater harm to themselves and others. Believe it or not.

  i knew a few pretty intelligent elders .

  sometimes i would wonder why they remained as elders or even witnesses because they were successful men who made a good living and were highly respected because of their qualities.. that is a rather small group.

  most elders that i know of aren’t the brightest bulbs in the sky.

  What happened to him, asked minimus,

  I moved far away, and he stayed behind. He sued me for divorce (on grounds of "cruel and inhuman treatment," the most gentle grounds available at that time). This was 2 years after I had gone. He tried to get me to "confess to adultery," with no regard to the truth of it, so that he could remarry. I didn't.

  I remarried about 2 years after the divorce was finalized. He didn't remarry until I had been remarried at least 6 years. I'm sorry, but he was not the kind to be attractive to women.

  I think he was asked to step down from being an elder, and he did. For about 2-3 years, he went inactive.

  He died a few years ago, at the age of 77. He was 9 years older than I was.

  Back when I was a JW, I married an elder whom I would describe as dull normal. He had a tremendous ego, and he was the theocratic ministry school servant,

  On one occasion, I was assigned a talk on the school. We had to provide the school servant a theme for our talk. I wrote out my theme and gave it to my husband at home.

  Fast forward to the KH and time for me to give my talk. The other sister and I got on the stage and sat at the table, ready to go. My husband went to the podium, turned to me, and asked if he had my theme. I replied, "I gave it to you." The congregation laughed. I gave my talk, and the meeting proceeded. Everybody went home at the end, of course.

  When we got home, I was given a dressing down because the congregation laughed. I tried to get "him" to see that the laughter was normal under the circumstances. "He" would not accept it as normal, and kept on at me. I started crying profoundly, and pleaded my innocence by reminding him that all I had said was, "i gave it to you." "He" slapped me in the face.

  He wasn't about to apologize or acknowledge that I had not harmed him in any way.

  That night, I started planning how I would get away.

  I never cursed at him or did anything but build up his pathetic ego. I partly blame myself for helping to create this monster because of my constant efforts to make him feel special.
